Easy bigger advance limiter bushing for MSD distributor

Sorry I didn't see your question before. I made the nut into an oval shape, so it would clear the slot and yet have the right size to get 10º. I can't remember the exact size though.

Easy bigger advance limiter bushing for MSD distributor

Hey, thanks. I didn't know crackedback has them for sale. No doubt a well made bushing is better than a rounded nut.. What is the price for the 10º bushing?

Easy bigger advance limiter bushing for MSD distributor

I wasn't able to get the ignition curve that I wanted with the bushings and springs supplied by MSD on my 8534 Pro Billet Distributor. I needed to get 25º initial timing, so the advance had to be limited to around 10º, and the biggest MSD bushing limits it to 18º. I found a bigger bushing on...

    Too big fuel pump?

Mine is a street car. 10.5/1, fully ported heads with 1.94/1.60 valves, Mopar solid 284 cam, Holley 4777 and RPM intake. Rarely sees more than 6500 rpm. I really like the look of braided lines and aluminum fittings. My engine has fabricated covers and an x-stream air cleaner, so IMO the braided...

    Too big fuel pump?

I am, actually. I'm running a stock Carter mechanical pump, but I think it could be too small for my engine. I never had a problem with it, but I recently got new heads and felt it was time to step up on the fuel system too.

    Too big fuel pump?

Lol... I thought maybe setting the pump to its lowest psi and dealing with the regulator could work. When I got this pump I didn't realize it was so big. Actually, a BG pump here in Brazil (a used one) costs about U$300 and a new Holley red pump costs U$400 :BangHead:. I got this BG for less...

    Too big fuel pump?

I bought that pump for less than half the price of a Holley red, that's the reason I want to run it.

    Too big fuel pump?

I know it is unnecessary, but I don't want to buy another pump if I can use this one. I was planning to use the return from the pump, since this regulator has no return. Why would it be bad? Fuel heating?

    Too big fuel pump?

Could it be a problem to run a BG400 (400 gph) fuel pump on a street 318 with about 350 hp? This pump was a pretty good deal, so I got it. I also have one of those basic chrome Holley regulators. Would these parts work well toghether on the street?

Adjusting my carb to my new heads

Tanks, I'll try 71-81. Actually I don't know if I have an #81, maybe I'll have to drill a smaller one.. No one sells these parts here, I have to import everything from the USA. I've never tried different pump cams. Do you think it's necessary? The car is driven strictly on the street.

Adjusting my carb to my new heads

Nice, thanks for the info. I was trying to keep the primary and secondary jets in the same proportion as they came stock, 67/73 I think. Maybe that's not right. I don't know if it matters but I removed the choke plate.

No, it's the mechanical advance model.

Adjusting my carb to my new heads

Hi, Recently I swapped the heads of my 318. The old ones were stock 318 small chamber heads with some cleaning and light porting. The new ones are also 318 small chambers but fully ported with 1.94 and 1.60 valves. The specs on my car are: -Mopar solid .528 cam -Flat top pistons...

    Secondaries hesitation when hot

I'm pretty sure it is, but I'll check anyway. Thanks!

    Secondaries hesitation when hot

It gives a good shot on both. I'll try to interchange the ones I have, putting the bigger one on the secondaries to see what happens. I'm running an electric fan now, and the car runs hotter than before with the stock fan. With the stock fan it was running at 150-160º and there was no hesitation.

    Secondaries hesitation when hot

Well, I noticed when my engine gets hot (180-190º) and I step on the gas opening the secondaries quickly, the engine hesitates and then goes ok. It happens when I'm driving slowly and step on the gas to wot. When it's not fully warmed up it doesn't hesitate at all. The carb is a holley...

    Fabricated valve covers

I got my covers last week. Looks nice to me. I don't like when they put a lot of shiny and polished parts. The engine bay is still messy .

    Doug Herbert solid cam?

It idles at 550 if I want. I set the idle at 800 and it has enough vacuum for power brakes. It's the perfect cam for a sleeper.

    Doug Herbert solid cam?

Power of course. The sound is just to put a bigger smile on my face. :toothy5:

    Doug Herbert solid cam?

Maybe the gauge wasn't ok. But it has a good vaccum because I run power brakes.

    Doug Herbert solid cam?

I think I'll do that man. I'm pretty sure the cam is installed straight up. I'm running 22° initial, 36° total and it has about 16-17" vacuum at idle. I don't know about the cyl pressure.
  26. Marcelo Dart BR

    Doug Herbert solid cam?

It's 20% alcohol... I'm runinng flowmaster 40s. I had glasspacks before but it was about the same at idle. I think my X pipe smooths the idle also.

    Doug Herbert solid cam?

I knew someone would say that...The thumpr doesn't even sound that good. My heads are 58cc chambers and the gaskets are 0.039".
