Strong,light and good rings. They are not cheap but you get a very high quality piston for your money.

I have always had the best luck with Autolite plugs in any brand engine.

Pulling the plugs and isolating the problem is good advice. Perform a cylinder pressure test while you have them out. A vacuum test may help also. A weak spark to one or more cylinders due to a bad plug or wire ? Valve seal or valve guide problems ? Good luck and keep us posted.

I would drop down one size on the Lunati cam. The longer stroke 360 will make plenty of torque to pull the gears and convertor you have.

I went with the balanced SFI one from Summit for my internal balance 410 that oldmanrick posted a link for. I think its a great choice for the money.

I found an 8-3/4 with 3:23 sure grip for $325 on craigslist out of a 69 dart. They are still out there if you are patient. Same with the 8-1/4's.

Pull the plugs and do a compression test. Otherwise you are just guessing until then and there really is no way of making a good cam selection.

I would run 3:55 gears with that cam. Otherwise it will seem a little lazy .

Fix / tune what you have before making a cam swap. I think you have a good combo that needs dialed in.

The Performer RPM works nice with the cam you have. The LD 340 would work well also.

I think its fine , you should have a real broad power band that comes on early and idles pretty nice. Tuning shouldn't be a problem. 2800-3000 would be my choice on the convertor.

Once you figure out your thickness needed Buy a set of the Cometic MLS (multi layer steel) head gaskets and spray both sides with cooper coating,let them tack up before installing. This will help prevent water seepage when running alum heads.

That is why I prefer the 9 key way timing sets. You can get them a little closer than the 3 key way ones.

3:55 gears are a great all around ratio. You can have your cake and eat it too with them.

If you spend most of your time under 5000 rpm its a great choice. (new cam)

Rambler, put a simple motor in it now and do the Gasser mods as time and money come.

Good choice to tune it differantly before the cam change. Sharp car by the way.

A super charger put you into a different ball park. A well thought out stroker will be plenty.

Tune it and swap the intake. I think your on the right track here.

Sounds bigger than a stock cam. lol Is the idle turned down ? It seems less than 1k.

The hughes are a nice set. same price for 1.5 or 1.6 Often the added lift gives you more midrange power.
