Interesting update on "crappy" repro fan shrouds

Bill, while I respect that you are stepping up on the issue now, the fact of the matter remains that I and many others wasted a signficant amount of money buying what we thought was a quality product. I installed mine in the summer of 08 and it was destroyed by the fan within a week. Why did...

    Dipstick Inquiry

Hello all, The handle broke off my trans dipstick today. I have the original 904 in my 67 Barracuda. Does anyone know if there are any more recent models with a matching dipstick that I might be able to find in a salvage yard? I dont want to buy an expensive replacement from Laysons or Year...

    Vacuum Level Question

I did not notice any cracks in the intake when I looked it over after purchase, but I did not have it inspected for that problem. The only obvious modification was some grinding along the edges of the ports. It did not look substantial, but then again I had no frame of reference. The gasket is...

    Vacuum Level Question

Hey guys, I am trying to get my 273 running right and am still having problems. I was running a stock 340 intake but recently converted to an Edelbrock LD4B. With the 340 intake my idle vacuum was approximately 15 give or take (Comp XE262H cam). With the LD4B my idle vacuum is approximately 7...

Electronic ignition upgrade / voltage regulator question

Summit Racing CD ignition is a rebranded Mallory I believe. I was running a Chrysler electronic ignition before. At this point I think I do not need the ballast resistor. The coil gets its power through the Summit ignition and is not otherwise connected to the BR. Thus, there would seem to be no...

Electronic ignition upgrade / voltage regulator question

This thread hasnt been active for a few weeks so I dont feel as bad about hijacking it briefly. I found my Summit CD ignition system was not putting power to my plugs when the starter was engaged. Based upon the diagram and discussion in this thread, Ignition #2 would seem to solve my...

    Spark & Timing Issues

Hello everyone, I want to solicit some advice regarding my ignition system. I had a Summit Racing CD ignition system installed last year. Since that time, the car has run fairly well, but has started differently than before (electronic ignition from 74 Dart). I just learned that my plugs are...

Advice - Torque Converter or Gear

Hey guys, I am looking for some informed advice. My set up is in the signature block below (approx 9 to 1 compression). I find the car has plenty of power when I get on it at 45 or 50 mph, but not surprisingly its lacking off the line. To remedy that situation, I am considering either a new...

Interesting update on "crappy" repro fan shrouds

I bought a repro shroud last summer. It lasted about 2 weeks before the fan destroyed it. I figured I must have installed it wrong, but it sounds like it probably warped and sagged into the fan. I wish I had know all this last year. I think I bought mine from Mancini too.

    273 intake suggestions

It looks like the Edelbrock LD4B has smaller runners compared to the 340 intake I am using now. As I understand it, the reduced volume would increase velocity and thus torque, is that correct? Any idea how much gain I would be looking at? Thanks.

    273 intake suggestions

Hello guys, I am looking for advice about an intake for my 273. It was originally a 2bbl but now runs an Edelbrock Performer carb on a stock intake from a 69 340. I am running an XE262H cam and Summit Racing ignition. If I could come up with a 273 Commando intake and maybe a 4 hole carb spacer...

    Chrysler & GM Merger

I just read the news that Cerberus, Chrysler, and GM have had discussions about a possible merger between Chrysler and GM. Somehow it just seems like blasphemy to even consider such a thing. With GM stock at the lowest point since 1949 it seems unlikely, but I wanted to see what others thought...

    Dougs Headers

Demon Kyle is right. TTis were in excess of $700 and the ceramic coated Dougs I purchased from Summit Racing were $540. Still not cheap compared to most others, but the fit is pretty good.

    Dougs Headers

Hello everyone, After researching this site for information about the best fitting headers I narrowed my choices down to TTi and Dougs. For the money, however, I decided to go with Dougs. From what I have read, TTi vs. Dougs is a big topic of debate so I thought I could give back to the site...

    Edelbrock Advice

As a follow up, after I took the car on a 20 mile drive I shut it off and checked the fuel line. The filter did not appear to have any gas in it (its clear plastic and I know I should replace it with metal so if anyone has a part # I will add it to the to do list) which seems strange as it seems...

    Edelbrock Advice

Thanks for the tips everyone. To answer a question, the choke sets when the engine is cold, but I still need to use the gas pedal to keep the engine running for a minute or two. After its hot I can only get it started by holding the gas to the floor and cranking quite a bit more than before. It...

    Edelbrock Advice

I am running an Edelbrock Performer (500 cfm) with an electric choke. In the past it has started right up hot or cold. Recently it had an issue with the choke not shutting off when the engine warmed. Since it had to go into the shop for some head work anyway I told them to fix the carb too. I...

    Who Is From Iowa Here

I grew up in Burt (so far north its almost Minnesota eh). I have also lived in Ames and Iowa City. My Mopar addiction started in high school when I had a 69 Barracuda fastback. I got my 67 Barracuda convertible when I lived in Louisiana. As soon as I can convince my wife of just how bad we...

    Greetings from CO

Hello, This is a great site with tons of valuable information. Hopefully it will help me get some power back into my 67 Barracuda. It has been sickly ever since I moved from LA to CO last summer. The altitude is robbing me of what little power my 273 did make. I hope to get it up and running...
