    Temp gauge problems.

Have you verified that your car isn't just running cold? A thermostat stuck open or a missing thermostat could cause a low reading.

Gets hot then starter is very slow turning over.

No reason to run the old style starter anymore unless you like the looks of it. The modern mini starters are better in every way.

    68 tail lights

Looks like your tail lights and reverse lights are on at the same time? I get a little bleed over from the tail light (center red part) into the white (reverse) but it isn't anything like that.

Did you try cleaning the contact points on the old ones? I would do that before looking for new ones.

    LED Bulbs

One thing you need to watch for with these LEDs is how much light they provide at an angle. I just went through this on a 2006 Mustang last week. The customer had me install LED taillights a couple months ago. They looked great when viewed directly from behind but when viewed from an angle...

    misreading temp gauge

I thought you would come along and correct me. I'm glad you did. I only have a rudimentary understanding of how the system works. Why did they do it that way is my question.

    misreading temp gauge

Not exactly..... The gauges are not 12v. They are 5v in a 12v system. The IVR (Instrument Voltage Regulator) cycles the 12v to feed the fuel gauge an "average" of 5v. The fuel gauge feeds the other gauges. ....Or al least that's how I understand it.

A few minor electrical questions (68 Barracuda Dash).

Problem solved on the left turn indicator. I didn't fully tighten the ground screw next to the bulb and/or unplugging and re-plugging TS switch harness connector solved it.

    Emergency Flasher Switch

I just pulled mine out, opened it up and cleaned the contacts. These are extremely basic, RedFish's suggestion is where you should start.

A few minor electrical questions (68 Barracuda Dash).

Thanks, that points me in a direction. I have not touched the TS connector. After 40+ years it could probably use some attention.

A few minor electrical questions (68 Barracuda Dash).

A few minor electrical questions (68 Barracuda Dash). So over the years my car has sat, allot. After I got it up on it's feet again I decided to touch up the electrical with a good cleaning. I have cleaned grounds, connectors, changed bulbs, replaced the headlight and dimmer switch...

Question: Getting the most out of a stock looking ignition system.

Do they have an HEI system that will make use of the original distributor body and give a stock look under the hood?

Question: Getting the most out of a stock looking ignition system.

Well, maybe not "the most", I should have said, solid and reliable. This is what I am dealing with. I have the stock dual point distributor (68, 340) and want my coil mounted in the factory location. Given this, what would you do? I was thinking something like a Pertronix conversion with...

    Speedometer not at Zero

I would start be pulling the cable and cleaning it inside and out then lightly greasing it. If that doesn't do it, pull the speedo, and clean it. You can use compressed air in a can, I have also used spray electrical cleaner from RadioShack.

    HID conversion

You should do a forum search. We have a member, Slantsixdan that is an automotive lighting engineer. As he says, most of these are junk. Often these products do not meet minimum safety requirements. More often, these cheep products, were are designed by people that don't know the first thing...
