Why would they put a 727 behind the 340 cars and not the 904 back in the 70's? This 904 was behind a grandma 318.

So tell me why I should build a 904 vs a 727? 727 looks more heavy duty than a 904, the input shaft is even so much bigger.

Here's the shifter setup

The bracket 19-48-46 is giving me the issue. It rod that is suppose to go through it,is not in the hole. It is like 1/2" above the bracket. I tried bending the bracket, but that made it worse. I ended up adding 2" to the bottom of the rod. I think some of my issue is the location of the center...

i have a 70 duster that I am converting from a column shift to a floor shift. Are the brackets and rod different between a 727 and 904? I can't get anything to line up.

Did you not read the part where there is another member on here that needs the dart one? Or are you not about helping out your fellow member? Your response will prove my theory.

cause there is no engine and trans in the car and someone on here wants the one I don't use, but thanks for that keen observation.

That helps a ton. It is a 73 duster. I measured from the end of the unjoint to end and it is almost 51". I remeasured center to center and it is almost 50", so I have the right one. Thanks for the info.

Can anyone tell me how long a driveshaft is for a duster 318/904/8.25? I have 2 driveshafts here and not sure which to rebuild. Where are you measuring from too?

I got a headache while reading this and then my computer went into overload. I actually have no idea what this guy was trying to say.......maybe that the transmission shop charged too much...LOL.

I have a few driveshafts that I am trying to find the part number, on. I did find one on the end of one of the driveshafts and it reads 2781986, but I don't see that number on the internet list. I also have a 70 duster driveshaft, but can't find any numbers on it at all. A little help...

So I take my 70 duster and drop the 7 1/4 rearend and put in a 8 1/4 out of a 74 dart. I go to put the driveshaft in, and remembered that the 8 1/4 is larger, so I know it won't fit. I drop the car back down put it in the back of the garage and start hunting for a driveshaft for a 904 trans and...

I also have an a body 8 3/4 housing but no center section, brakes, or axles. Could I swap out the center section, axles, and brakes out of my b body and put into the a body housing I have?
