The one magnum head is no good. The other is a 302 casting, which if I found another would be one to find a match for. Only because they go good with some 318 builds.

I'm starting to entertain a cheap rebuild just to clean up the motor and see what I'm working with. I don't have an issue with the la heads. I could invest a little money in some machine work in them if I really need too. I'm hoping to get a better look at it later this week.

Im not super informed about all this, but you gotta consider what exactly "last" is. I mean, fuelers only care about "lasting a quarter mile plus burnout and staging". Maybe four rounds. Aluminum blocks can "last" a little longer because there is the chance of welding a window back up. IDK...

I have the front removed in my durango right now while waiting for some more funds for parts. Isnt there a conversion for that transfer case where the full time can be converted to part time? Also, I believe the hi and lo loc locks the transfer case up so the front and rear axles are locked...

What is the exact transmission? Lockup or Non Lockup? If lockup is it a Hyd. applied or release? Reason I point all this out is that it might be a valve body/lockup circuit problem also.

I think your gonna end up with one heck of a nice motor when its all said and done. Does the engine come with all the accessories?

I saw where somebody hacked off the seperators. I just like how it looks so tame under the hood, yet sounds so healthy. I even like the magnum air cleaner. I think this thread ought to be a sticky.

What kind of mufflers? I dont remember reading that, if I missed it sorry. Also, that turquoise motor really looks good. Have you considered using factory valve covers with the plug wire seperators? That would really set it off in my opinion.
