How To For Those Looking for Tips on Carpet Install

It all worked out great. I sold the Duster a couple of years ago. But I have been in touch with the current owner and have heard no complaints from him. It worked surprisingly well and deadening engine/road/exterior noise. very clean and comfortable sounding inside. I would do it again.

How To For Those Looking for Tips on Carpet Install

The car is long gone now, sold it last summer. But it was extremely quiet inside. Even with all I had done to the engine and 40 series exhaust you could easily carry on a conversation. Likewise you could crank up the stereo and roll the windows up and close the doors and from outside you could...

What is everyone using for bucket seats?

I put a set of power leather buckets out of a 09 accura TL type S in my duster, they were side impact airbag and heated seats but i eliminated all that and just ran the power options. came out great. involved a little fab work making mounting brackets but wasnt to bad. I got a good deal on them...

    Body putty for seams

On my duster I used a couple different types from my local body shop. It's right around $8 a tube ( looks like a tube of caulk but is actual seam sealer). I used a tan color sealer ( autobody master brand) and also used a black sealer ( transtar brand) both worked great. And bot give you more...

Is there more room on the drivers side then passenger side? (seat install)

on my duster I built my own seat brackets, so I utilized the outside mounting holes on each side of the car that already existed (bench seat mounting holes) and drilled out the dimples for the inner holes (trans hump side of the seats). if you check out my build thread like I previously...

Is there more room on the drivers side then passenger side? (seat install)

even a non factory bucket car has "dimples" in the floor pan where the bolts holes would be located. also factory bucket cars have added support on the holes of the floor pan to beef the floor up where the seats mount. On my duster, I found the factory dimples in the pan, drilled them out, then...

Is there more room on the drivers side then passenger side? (seat install)

I ran into the same issue when I converted my duster to buckets. actually just today someone asked me why it looked like my seat was slightly off center from my steering wheel, so I had to explain the whole offset driveline to them. I was under the impression that it was like this for 1: to...

    metal door panels???

What I was saying is that 73 was the transition year. Which if that was the case you would need parts from a 72 and earlier car. (Edit, i see others chimed in and confirmed what i was getting at while i was typing this message lol)

    metal door panels???

I believe 73 was when most of the a-bodies switched to plastic upper doors and sail panels etc..etc... should be able to get one from an earlier model car. only problem is that I believe you have to swap the entire door as the metal upper panels are part of the doors structure

Automatic to Manual Steering Column Conversion "HOW TO"

I don't think I have pictures of the internals. all I did if i remember correctly was removed the lock tab for the gear selector (locks the gear selector in park position when ignition was off) and I cut the lock portion of the tab off so that it had no way of engaging and locking my steering...

    New Carpet installation

I did a write up on carpet installation a year or so ago. I took detailed pictures, gave a list of all the tools needed with pictures of them, gave step by step info on what to do. do a search for it and you may find it to be useful. hope that helps

Automatic to Manual Steering Column Conversion "HOW TO"

Whoa, this thread hasn't seen daylight in a little while lol. Glad to see its still of some use. Yes I'm. Sure you could probably use different materials , but i think the way i did it is probably the more straight forward route and probably one of the cheaper routes. I have a few other write...

    Wrinkles in Legendary backseat back...**PICS**

Hard telling without pictures just how/where the wrinkles are. but could it be due to a lack of padding in the specified area? or have the spring in the back worn out/been bent in some and not allowing it to push against the materiel to aid in taking the wrinkles out. if all is well then I...

    wiper switch

mine either had a small alan set screw that went into the side of the knob (hard to see it if it is there) or it had a little triangle clip that fits inside the knob and there is a ridge on the shaft....so once you push the knob on the triangle clip snaps into places around the ridge in the...

    wiper switch

Im trying to remember. I THINK on my duster ( not sure if they are similar set ups).....there may have been a little alan head screw on the side of the knob which allows the knob to come off once loosened. THEN I THINK there is a metal washer that is threaded that has notchs in it. you just...

    Dash Pad Removal Kit...lol

Wow, I'm seeing people say they had to use sawsalls and others say it took 6 hours. It only too me maybe 30 minutes tops to remove my pad in my 72 duster the first time! ( no saws used either lol)

    Best paint for interior vinyl??

I have used the duplicolor vinyl and fabric spray....from dash pads to door panels to seats....it works good you just have to know how to prep for it. if you just spray it on or any other brand for that matter.....don't expect it not to peel right up or flake off with use. what I do is take a...

Bench to Bucket Seat Conversion on a 70 Duster

Actually the seats were made right here in Michigan in detroit. And I could care less if they came out of a go kart lol... they look good and are comfortable which is all that mattered to me. I was just pointing out that there is more than one way to skin a cat is all .

Bench to Bucket Seat Conversion on a 70 Duster

my 72 duster was originally a bench seat car. I picked up a set of power leather buckets out of an acura tl type s. I DID use the out bench seat mounting holes aswell as drilled the 4 holes for the inside mounts in the floor closest to the transmission hump. so to say someone is wrong is not...

71 Duster: how do you remove metal and vinyl trim under pop-out windows?

If I remember right from doing my 72, you have to pop the rear side panels off to gain access to the screw heads on the chrome transition strip, alone with the visible screws in the sail panel itself, then pop the rear windows open to the sail panel can clear where the hinge is and the panel...

    Plating At Home

I have tooled around with plating (the back yard way) and I am no expert by any means but figured I would throw in on the subject.
