Holleys can be such a pain to tune--yeah they do make more HP then any single Carter carb. If your not looking for best HP, I would think about a 600 Carter Competition carb. The metering rods are easier to change to tune it and it will likely idle better to boot. Flame away, lol, I ran holleys...

There was very good reasons TWO carters were used back in the 50's and 60's.

My car was at the exhaust shop yesterday, hoses on the outside look fine. Yeah its a 1979 model but me and the dual carbs think its mid 60's. I think they be fine but yeah would stink being 200 miles from home and no fuel to the pump.

Those rubber hoses right near the gas tank, they have no pressure, just sight vacuum a few inches drawing the fuel to the steel gas lines. Mine look OK on outside, are 33 years old and planing on a 500 mile road trip soon. Should I change those before the trip ? I don't know if I'm getting...

You can use the 750 main body but you need to modify the base plate where the idle feed holes are. Google it. Only difference between the two carbs is the larger base plate throttle plates. A holley 850 flows way more than a holley 950. If your going to buy everything get a 850, IMO

Bump an old thread but I ran intakes both ways up here in cool weather Michigan. Having the exhaust heat passages OPEN are the way to go. At night during WOT the intake will get cold even driving it ALL night. I found at night time and cool weather a heated intake will make MORE power--not less...

Don't think this is it with a small cam but if theres like a 10.5 power valve and once in gear the motor's vacuum drops below that point, the power valve will open. You may want to put a new power valve in it, 6.5 is good, maybe 8.5

Proform is good but theres another--I think its procomp, that stuff is junk. E-bays loaded with it too, hear nothing bu bad talk about how bad the work is. Manifolds don't line up, etc.
