    340 vibrates

try running it without the accessory belts... could be harmonics from something in the front.

    340 vibrates

sounds to me like it is in the trans. possibly a worn converter hub bearing, or a broken converter... could also be the front pump of the trans. good luck!

eagle sir rods who's broke one?

she broke as soon as she hit boost... about 25-2700rpm... the piston didnt touch the head at all! the rod broke at the small end, swung around and just broke the hell out of everything! the engine was not built for boost at all! nothing was right for psi... it was what i had so i made it work. i...

lmao!!! i told him to drive the car for a while till he get the hang of it... i drove it for 2 seasons with the big engine and i didnt have the nerve to stay in it! the 2nd to 3rd shift was brutal even with the 3:23! i was almost going to go down to a 2:94! she got to 7k very fast!

How much horsepower is your small block putting out?

forced induction or n/a? my ''340'' 416 is making a little over 1100hp/1050tq flywheel (935 whp/895wtq) with 15#s of boost @ 6700 rpm... my 340 before the turbo made 440 whp/473 wtq @ 6400rpm. both engines power #'s were with 93 oct pump gas.

easy way to tell if i got a solid cam or hydraulic?

every m.p. solid cam kit i have installed have had the exact same lifters with the yellow tops... that tells me you probably have a purple shaft cam and the lash should be .028 intake and .032 exhaust (HOT)... just thought i'd throw that in...

    340 No low end power

340's like 2.02 heads with a cam, headers, and big exhaust.... im not saying its killing it, but i wouldnt run 1.88's when im building a mild 340....... they came with 2.02 heads stock!
  21. forced 340

    340 No low end power

1.88 heads are not helping any... sounds like a timing/gear ratio issue or your valves are too tight if you have adj. rockers. u dont have to pull the cover to find out the gear ratio....all you do is mark a spot on your tire as well on the pinon yolk, rotate the tire 1 complete time and while...

Is this a good deal for a 340?

you are going to have to get the lower end balanced no matter what crank you go with... also a good set of .040 pistons are harder to find then say a set of .030 set... i wouldnt trust someone saying "the machining is done and its ready for assy."! you still need to check and adjust ALL...
