    A833 2nd gear engagement issue

My 67 Barracuda does the same thing. It grinds going into second until the gear lube warms up. I’m running 90 weight gear lube. I have replaced all the synchronizer rings and that didn’t help at all. I just shift from 1 to 3 for the first couple miles. After the lube is warm, all gears shift...

    NSS

I believe the only difference between the switches is the three wire switch includes the backup light circuit. The middle lug is the ground for the NSS the outer two lugs are for the backup lights. I’m sure you can use the three wire switch already in your 727, just wire the NSS to the...

    727 ticking in park?

I had a similar issue and discovered the bolt I used to attach the two support struts (that go from the engine to the transmission) was too long and was just barely nicking the heads of the flex plate bolts. This was on a 1962 Fury 318 engine.

    Rear Whines

Can you drive it over to the rebuilder, take him for a ride and let him listen to the noise? Then you can pull it and he might have a better idea of what he needs to do to fix it.

    Speedo reads fast

If it’s reading fast you need it to turn slower, so you need a gear with MORE teeth not less.

    225 Clutch Recommendations

I just replaced the 9 1/2" Auburn style clutch in my 1967 Barracuda 273 4-Speed with the Borg & Beck 10" and I love it. It has a little more pressure than the old Auburn style pressure plate and the fact that you can use the same flywheel, release lever and throwout bearing is a big plus too...

    leaking like a sieve!

Did you fill the convertor with fluid before installing it? It may not have any fluid in it and that may be where your whine is coming from. I would think it is hard to get fluid to the right level in a dry convertor by just letting the transmission pump it in...... just my thoughts!

    727 doesn't want to move

I looked it up. The 1968 Service Manual says 18 1/2 pints, that's more than 9 quarts.

    727 doesn't want to move

I don't know the fluid capacity of a 727 according to the book, but I know when I rebuilt my 727 I put in a little under 9 quarts which includes what I added to the dry converter before assembly. You said you dropped the pan and then put in 3 1/2 quarts. I think it's just low on fluid...

    Too short clutch fork?

If it's not an original Chrysler release fork, I would question if maybe the little clip that holds it into the bellhousing is riveted in the wrong spot. I would look for an original Chrysler fork and solve your problem forever.

    Good buy?

And it looks like it has 10 X 2 1/2 rear drums. I'm certainly no expert but I don't think those ever came on an A body.

    1971 Barracuda 4-Speed problems

Thanks Ryan! I'm pretty sure my transmission mount is OK. I had this engine out two years ago having the crank drilled out to accept the pilot bushing for my four speed. Now that I have that problem fixed, I still have this shifting issue. It's gotta be the shifter itself because I have...

    1971 Barracuda 4-Speed problems

OK, I know this is an E-Body question, but you guys (and gals) are very good at answering questions I decided to post it anyway. I have trouble shifting my A-833 transmission. It will hardly go into reverse, I have a hard time getting it to come out of reverse as well. One time I drive it I...

    Barracuda 273 9.5 inch clutch

So if I call up a pressure plate manufacturer like Hays or Centerforce and tell them I have a 1977 Dodge van with a three speed and a 225 slant six the pressure plate would fit my car? Is that possible?

    Barracuda 273 9.5 inch clutch

So if this is true: The '70's and '80's van slant 6 clutch is a bolt-in. You just need to round up a set of grade 8 allen head bolts for the pressure plate. What parts are "bolt in". Which ones do I need from the 1970-80's van just the pressure plate and flywheel or do I need to...

    Barracuda 273 9.5 inch clutch

I have the 2-barrel version of the 273 in my 1967 Barracuda with an A-833 four speed transmission. I have the 9 in clutch and want to go to a 10 in clutch if possible. Does anyone know if the bell housing and flywheel are the same for both the 9 and 10 inch clutches? I seem to remember...
