    It's your money and time...I was just giving my opinion(JMO) from somebody that used to race with a 4 speed.I,ve won a lot more races with the auto and spent more time with racer friends at the track,instead of wrenching with broken parts.Congrats on your 1st round win.:cheers:

    Maybe look into the Quik-Time scattershields,they,re smaller than the Lakewoods.I have a Lakewood shield behind my 372 in my 73 Dart Sport 4 speed.I had to do some mods for the Z-bar stud location.:D

    You,d be better off going auto with 800hp,unless you have mucho dunaro,s $$.You can race with a 4 speed,but be prepared to have breakage each outing as 19Dart66 has mentioned.Good luck...Been there/Done that.

    You might have to drill 2 holes at the bottom of the shifter to install in the Hurst shifter box.Once you remove your boot,you will see how it attaches.Good luck.

    Remove the boot,undo 2 bolts holding old shifter on.I replaced my boot with a rectangle top(69 non console I think),so the new pistol grip shifterslid in the boot easily.then bolt the shifter backon,then screw down the boot.I,m gonna search for the thread....hang on.:D Here ya...

    I had to either open up or drill the lower second hole in the shifter(can,t remember)for it to fit the shifter box.Good luck

    I have a cherrywood B-body Pistol grip shifter in my 73 Dart Sport 340 4 speed.I changed the boot to a 69 B-body(non console)its oval with rectangle shifter opening.I like it alot better than the T Hurst handle.

    Pedal has to go to floor and still get some grinding

    I had to lengthen the adjuster for my fork after installing my Lakewood scattersheild and Centerforce clutch.Works ok now,but need to replace pedal bushingsMust be worn,cause I can feel it catching through my foot. Maybe get a new Z-bar from Brewers Derrick?

    I would go up to 4500-5000rpm,once it started to drop rpm I,d let off.

    I did stretch the old(round holed boot)over the square pistol-grip shifter 2 yrs ago.I guess over time it has torn,this is why I got the new(rectangle holed)B-body boot.Works and looks great!
