15x7 cragers

-
I have no dog in this fight, but....
To the best of my knowledge, for 7/16 studs, the cragars use a conical seat lug, WITH a shank. Oddball lugnuts, frq7ently out of stock and expensive. A substitute was found on ebay, but I don't know where.
Doesn't really concern me. My fifty year old cragars (supertricks) use a long-shank mag lugnut.

Got it.
Vendors state conical, Cragar states shank, same part#, neither provides matching lug nuts so get conical or conical with shank or shank depending on what's in the box when it arrives.
I miss speed shops.

@33IMP is right! Cragar makes a 7/16-20 conical WITH a shank! I didn't know those were a thing until his post got me searching. Just ordered myself a set: A-27802-4

They're available if anybody else is looking: Cragar A-27802-4 Cragar Wheel Lug Nuts | Summit Racing

Minor detail, but I definitely prefer the look of the standard Cragar conical lug nuts.

Confused again here.

Both conical and conical with shaft state they fit 7/16.

If you already mounted the wheels with conical nuts, why order conical with shaft style, do both style of nut fit these wheels?

Also, one person left feedback that the chrome outer cover fell off immediately.
These nuts are steel with a chrome cover?

Awhile back I ordered shank style for an old set of Cragar wheels. The nuts were garbage.
Ended up with McGard, better quality by far.
Wonder if McGard makes conical?

Yep.

Chrome Cone Seat Style Lug Nut Set (7/16-20 Thread Size) - Set of 4 Lug Nuts Chrome Cone Seat Style Lug Nut Set (7/16-20 Thread Size) - Set of 4 Lug Nuts

Those cone/shank combo lug nuts are junk. I tried Gorilla brand (I think) a few years ago. They supposedly give more thread engagement. They came apart during the test fit. I replaced the studs to get maximum thread engagement.

Supposedly better thread engagement. The regular conical nuts went on without issue, but also haven't put any miles on the car. I switched because I didn't know there were special lug nuts to for this setup. If they make them, might as well use them. It takes 20min to switch the lug nuts.

The Cragar lug nuts I have are chrome plated. The set I have appears to be high quality, no defects that I can see. They went on without any issues. I can't speak to their longevity/durability yet.

For whatever it's worth, I recently mounted some 275/60/15 Nittos on the back of my 67 Barracuda, 15x8 Cragar SS wheels. (post #6) Bubble balancer said they didn't need weights. I was skeptical, but figured I'd run them and see. Smooth as glass. Amazing.

Some older Cragars I've run weren't as good. Neither was the chrome in the lug nut area.

Of course, my "new" wheels are gonna be 14 years old this year, so I can't say if the newer ones are still as good as mine are.

Yessir! Those are the ones. Still running them and no issues to report.

I do prefer the look of the regular Cragar conical lug nuts with the longer body, but the extra thread engagement on the conical w/shank helps me sleep at night.
