So the plot thickens yet again...lol. I was kinda not surprised when I got a message this morning. Guy buying the car asking if I knew anywhere to get a safety done. Older gentleman from about an hour away. Obviously I wouldn't know of anywhere near him to get one done...lol. I told him where I had it done last (the mechanic and owner are car guys big into classics) and as I expected he asked if I would take it down and get the safety done for him. Said he would pay for the safety and my time so I said I would. A bit of a pain, considering I am going away in just over a week and need to get ready, but oh well.

Put the car up on my ramps and installed the new idler arm I ordered from Kanter as I told him I would do because I knew the new Moog one I installed 850 miles ago failed (really quick shipping which was awesome). Job went as well as it could. Done in less than an hour from setup to clean up. Even greased the front end again while I was under there with the grease gun.

Now off tomorrow to get the safety done and see if I missed anything.

Update: Car passed safety no problem. Thats a load off my mind. I know I did go over the car pretty extensively but I always worry "did I miss something"

Delivery Saturday, then in a few weeks (after I get back from vacation) he will come and pick up the spare parts, giving me back part of my shop. Then onto getting the 60 Bel Air ready for sale.

Well, car is officially delivered. I drove the car for one last time to drive it a little over an hour to drop it off to him. Car drove great. Nice and smooth and the new aluminum rad did great. Temp came up to the bottom of the operating range and just stayed there. Cruised most of the way at 50mph no problem. Pushed it up in a couple spots and again, same temp.

I hope the new owner is happy with it and gets lots of use out of it. Not going to lie, I will miss it, but it was time to let it go. Not enough time and not enough room to keep them all.

at least it'll have freed up some cash for the other projects you undoubtably have (don't we all, lol).
neil.
I only have 1...Well...maybe 2...well...Ok, I have 5 in actuality...lol. But in reality, one is going up for sale shortly....and one other is bought to make the best out of 2 (both actually in really nice shape overall) and then the second will go up for sale. So in reality I only have 3 other projects. Thats not too many is it??

sounds fine to me. i've got a couple of gasser projects, my 58 rambler american (getting a ford fe) and 63 vauxhall cresta (getting a 318), plus my 02 ford transit i'm looking to convert into a camper for the wife and me. i try to only build 1 at a time, but if parts for 1 of the others turn up for a bargain price i'm always tempted, lol.

I'm the same. Gathering parts for my wife's 1947 International truck, but if I see a great deal on a part for 51 international truck or my 66 impala wagon, I usually grab it. Also have a 60 Bel Air I was gathering parts for but that's the one I'll be selling shortly once I get all the parts gathered up and sorted.

i've found they're easier to sell if most of the parts are there. also if i have time i try to mockup a simple ignition switch and fuel supply so a buyer can hear the motor run at least. it makes the project more of a 'going concern' and reassures the buyer you're not selling a lemon, lol.

Yeah, the car is basically complete. I sourced all of the missing parts and found lots of NOS parts too so that will be a big plus. Also the car runs. Actually runs better than my daily...lol. You can place a glass of water on the engine it is so smooth. It was apparently rebuilt by a professional shop not long before it was parked. I will be having it set up to show running and also a video of it running.
