1965 Dodge Dart Charger convertible

-
LCA bumpers in place. I was also able to do the yellow marking on the K-frame.
My restored Dartcharger has both have yellow markings on the K-frame. Both had 10 inch brakes and power steering. I took a perfect K-frame for my convertible. It came originally from a 1965 Dart wagon with slant six, 9 inch brakes and no power steering and the K-frame has a red marking.
Question is; was yellow marking for power steering or 10 inch brakes and of cause was red paint markings for cars with 9 inch brakes or no power steering?
What have you FABO members out there?

Thanks FABO for any input.

Today was the glass beading day! I just remember that I did glass bead all the bolts on the other Dartcharger. Lots of time for sure!
I did some parts that will be shipped to a friend of mine in US that does the correct finish on my parts. This shipment will be silver zinc, yellow dichromate and black phosphate.

The rims has been rechromed and is ready. However the centers was not! So today I took 4 hours and wet sanded with 400, 800, 1200, 1500 and 2000 grit. Then polish with Autosol.
Now the first center looks great. I'll try to do number two tomorrow if my hand and fingers doesn't hurt!

Picked up the cylinder heads today. Looked great. Gave them a coat of red paint and mounted them. Next will be to add the intake manifold morrow night and paint the bolt heads. I even covered up the assembly date of the engine as the Los Angeles plant did. It's getting there.....

I never did check when I pulled the original slant 6. The 66 273/235 O'm using still had paint over that area as did the 273 I pulled out of the 65 Barracuda I parted out

Was that one from LA Don?

I did the heads and intake today. Hopefully gaskets and the by-pass hose show up in the future show up so I can paint that as well!

Tonight the engine was ready for mounting in the K-frame. Some tricks to do it self but after 15 minutes it was in place. Now there is possible adding more parts on the engine.

Don! Was it avidence after tejp on the engine assembly date ? I checked my 170 from the blue Dart and it was just rust. So it might have been bare metal. Did you have a paint splot on the K-frame?

Today lots of progress was made. The A/C unit bracket was added as well as all the other brackets was cleaned, glass beaded and painted in black.
The distributor was restored with new bushings, condensor, two contacts, rotor and cap. Feels like new.
But when I started with the a/c unit I found out the the rear connection is higher then B-body cars. A-body connection to the right.
Even the water pump pulley was checked. A/C pulley is 5 3/4' in diameter and standard pulley is 6,5 inch! You always learn something.

I cleaned the Carter 3854SH carburator tonight. Added new gaskets and new floates. But I notised an H after 3854S. What does that mean? Replacement carburator? It was even stamped on the carburator tag!!

Any input is gladly appriciated.

Restored the PCV valve today. It was a mess inside.
Next was the air cleaner. There is a different curve on the center loop. Then there is a pressed line above the nipple. Anyone seen this before?

I have a question concerning your dolly that the K frame is resting on - how wide and long is it? I have something similar except it looks too wide. The length is probably OK.

Might be Don. But still, how to glue the aluminium 273 Charger plate when the conter is lower then the rest of the center area? This thing beats me!

That indicates to me a different supplier for both the air cleaner AND the aluminum plate since the one I sent you and you had reproduced looks to be larger in diameter than it appears on your air cleaner. BTW, do you have any more of those plates as I put the one you sent me in a safe place so it wouldn’t get damaged until it was time to install it. As usual I cannot find that safe place I store stuff!

Great work and documentation Ulf! Where did you get the 273 Charger sticker? I've tried looking for one for my 67 273 Commando with no luck?
Thanks
Steve

Thank you and now I can check mine so see how it compares. I suspect mine is too wide for the K frame to safely sit on
If it's too wide it will hit the jack stands. BTW, I can send you the last one. Will get new ones within 3 weeks.
