1970 Dart,First Mopar

I have to confess , that is my brother Don's shop. He is the paint man for our builds. After we paint the dart we will move it back to my place to finish the assembly. We have two more cars in line for the rotisserie after the dart. Next is a 1962 biscayne table top for our stepfather and after that one Don has a 1964 skylark to build. Our church built a new sanctuary and the builder had some metal roofing left over. My father (Pop) brought it home. After we installed the trolley beam we turned the roofing up side down and used sheetrock screws to hang it from the trust.

What is that extension where the shackle is mounted to the frame rail? I have never noticed that before on a spring relocation.
 
I am going in a new direction on my Dart. Last week I took my kids to my Mothers in northern Indiana and I came across 440 with a CH4B intake and Cal-Custom valve covers and 727 trans out of a 1968 Charger. The car was totaled in the early 70's and the 440 had been sitting under a work bench for over thirty years. The block had oil and antifreeze in it so I checked the casting numbers and it all check out. So now I am building a 440 Dart.

The instructions said to weld shackle hanger to the frame rail and add some gussets. We made everything around the shackle hanger.

My '71 Demon just has a tube welded to the bottom of the framerail - no gussets. With 28" tall tires it sits "just right".

DartDust, lookin' good! To be planning to paint this weekend, you must have better weather that we've been having. Did you have to do a lot of body work after priming? It looks really good in the primer. Can't wait to see the dressing on it. Keep the pix coming, lovin' it!

I hope to be getting the steel for my rotisserie soon. Can you post a closer picture of how you attached yours to the rear frame. Thanks. L8r

We had to replace the inner stature because the previous owner beat holes in the inner fenders to weld a piece angle to the frame to mount a 360. We got the new one from a 70 4 door. We are deleting the impact strips so we had to fill holes and work the rear quarters. We still have to do the doors and front fenders. After that we had some small spots behind the drip rails where the vinyl top ends and some low in the rear quarters. We also replaced the front floor pans.

Gerahead here are the rotisserie pics you needed.
 
We got some paint on the Dart today. We also put some clear on the engine bay, door jams and the trunk. Last weekend we put a coat of Rust Seal Primer under the gray primer. Sunday morning we had two small spots a bought the size of a softball that needed a little more. Rust Seal has a hardener so it can soak through rust and loose paint and seal it up. Being that we hade only the two small spots we didn’t ware glasses, gloves or a respirator. To make a long story short my brother had surgery on his eye twice on Tuesday. We got lucky, his eye is going to be ok and we are going to try to be more careful.
