I'm a brand new member. I just picked up a 1970 Duster with a 340. I would love if someone could help me. I want to paint the underside and suspension and wheel wells as close to factory as possible. I have tried to find a restoration manual but I have had no luck. Are they all body color? Thanks again for any advice. This car is not a show car, I just want the things that need attention to be right.

This may help you. I've relied on it for years here in my powder coating shop.

That's great help. Thanks again. Are the wheelhouses and underside body color or black?
Body color. But undercoating or sound deadener is often applied after that.
Also, I take exception to the above chart, as I have never seen a K-frame (subframe to which the front suspension, steering, and engine is attached) painted anything but semi-gloss black as-manufactured.

"Front unibody subframe assembly" refers to those short frame horns, shock tower/upper arm mounts, etc.., welded to and painted with this body. What they did there was spell out the difference between a full frame build and a unibody build. The K frame is the K frame, painted black and bolted to any color body after paint.

try and think "assembly line"
it would be very difficult for the line workers to assemble anything with painted threads or adjust and fit anything slopped with paint...those parts would be left uncoated.
all wheel wells were undercoated except some California cars which were blacked out just with paint
floors and frame sections were primer with some body color over spray
lower control arms were cosmoline (orange waxy oil coating)
there are guys on this site that know much more than me.
