Your talent for metal work is amasing! Hats off!

Thanks for the compliment!

Spent a solid day working on the car, and accomplished a lot. I finished welding in the outer wheel well tub. (Made sure there were no pin holes by turning the lights off in the garage and shining a light in behind my welds) I also made a patch on the inner wheel well tub and welded it in. I also got the trunk extension all welded in.

Tomorrow my plan is to finish the bodywork on the wheel well tub, finish stripping all the old paint/rust, weld in the door striker and put the bodywork in high build primer.

I can only imagine...lookin' good though!

That guy still hasn't emailed me back yet about those hubcaps...

Thanks!

What an *** that guy was... He probably thought we were in cahoots, haha.

Door striker is welded on. Welds ground down and fibreglassed. Tomorrow is more sanding and then epoxy. I have to drill the holes for the dart swinger emblems on the quarter and do a splice at the door gap. Then epoxy on the quarter and many coats of sound deadener.

Hopefully next weekend is paint and then weld the quarter on!

Man, you're just pluggin away! Excellent use of any free time you do have. Oh, I emailed that guy again...his site was down for a couple days, but maybe he'll actually reply to me this time.

Yeah it's slowly gettin there! I can't wait to be done with the quarter and start on something new.

Thanks for trying again! I really appreciate it,

I got it all seam sealed tonight and tomorrow I'll tackle the quarter.. Maybe by Sunday I'll be putting down some Hemi Orange!

Randy,
really looking good
keep up the good work !

Thanks Ross!

I got the lower quarter mated with the trunk extension and welded up. I also got the holes drilled for the emblems.

The quarter sat about an 1/8" to low at the top compared to the door, so I fixxed that problem by cutting the quarter and bringing it up, then filling the gap with weld. I forgot to take a pic of it on the car, but it is now in the proper spot. This quarter is terrible compared to the drivers side! Once the quarter is welded on I will address the door to quarter gap... One piece at a time!

Later on this evening I will start applying the sound deadener.

Man, seeing things like this makes me wish I had taken some auto body classes when I was in school.

Awesome dude-I can't wait to see it!

Thanks! I can't wait to weld the quarter on!

It's never to late to learn. This is my first real go at metal work..I've done bodywork and paint a bunch of times, but this is the first major "metal surgery" I grew up watching my dad, so I guess it kind of comes natural.

First coat.

I continue to enjoy this thread. Fantastic work. I only have one question. Where do you find all the time to do so much work?

Thanks! I do have a full time job that takes up between 40-60hrs a week but I set myself goals and make time... Sometimes a few hours during the week and I make time during the weekends. I also have a supportive girlfriend, which makes all the difference! :D. Most people take time off work to go on vacation... Me on the other hand, work on my car, haha. I started the metal work back in October, so I'm not making leaps and bounds progress, but it's slow and steady. Also, I'm 27yrs old and don't drink, smoke or go out partying, so all that extra $$ goes to car parts! And this car needs it's fair share of parts!!

Nice job on the undercoating Randy, a nice thick almost runny edge just like the factory artisans did it, your an Artiest, lol, precision work!

Haha thanks! The passenger side quarter was a little messier then the drivers side, so I recreated it the best I could.

Lurk away!

I finally got some colour on it this morning. Maybe tomorrow I'll start prepping the quarter to be welded on. We'll see how the day goes.

Before..

After..

Originally the Roof/quarter area was mig welded togather here and they never even welded the panels to the brace behind, so I added some plug welds to strengthen this area. (The other side was spot welded to the brace)

Ground where plug welds will be.

Weld thru primed.

Had to slice the seam in three spots so I could make the quarter follow the door (this quarter did not fit well)

Panel bonded this area.

Quarter clamped in place and rear valance and end cap installed to make sure everything is ligned up.

Big gap will be addressed.. All welded in and fought me the entire way!

I will finish welding the quarter on during the week... It's about 50% welded
