Nice detail here with the bare screw, and "the bend".

Restoration looks top tier on that Demon from what I can see in pictures. Not restored exactly per fender tag but car looks pretty righteous to me.

To clarify a few codes on the tag: V6W: white vinyl side stripe, C: built to Canadian specs (not built in Canada as Dartnut clarified), C16: console with wood grain, C55: bucket seats.

Two things I see wrong. 71 Demons never came with white bucket seat interior
Very good catch, I'll bet most people here didn't know that. I had to read the Hamtranck spec book three times to understand this because the wording in the book is very confusing and is only pointed out in the page index. Only Swinger Hardtops could get white bucket seats in '71 (see 2nd sentence in fine print in photo below regarding interior trim options).

The letter ''G'' that stands alone on the fender tag is actually a ''C'' which means it was built to Canadian specs to be sold new in Canada.
If the letter ''U'' appears in the same place, the car was built to U.S. specs and destined to be sold new in the U.S.
(This is the letter that appears on the third line up from the bottom just to the right of the FC7 top color.)

And "I" for International, export to the rest of the world (mainly Europe, I suppose)

To add a little to 340Six post..

Here's where the name "Barrell Cuda came from.

Just down the street from me is where this pic was taken.

Alan used to post on Moparts a lot and had a thread on the Barrel Cuda restoration. Whoever did the metal work on that car is a true artist. It was done before AMD was even a thought. I've wondered if it was Fitzee that did the metal work, but I think he's a Newfie....and too far away.

"I don't know the company(s) that did all the work but, given that level of work, I'm 100% certain the owner had more than the $112k-ish he/she would have netted for the sale. All that bodywork/panel prepping, sheetmetal replacing, underside painting, interior replacement, engine rebuild, 4-speed conversion, etc, etc. Yep, LOTS of $$$$'s!" Demonx2

I have to agree that paint and body work are incredibly expensive today. I have about that into my '68 FS FB 340 and I did a good deal of the mechanical work myself including the engine and suspension. Paint is ungodly expensive, but labor for a high gloss finish, especially for a black car, is spendy. But you get what you pay for. It is encouraging that someone values that Demon as it impacts all A-Body values.

would like to see a before pic , Canadian cars rust big time unless they are never criven in winter , had a few A bodes in the late 60's and 70's they rusted out quickly

Was a Canadian guy on here a while ago had a thread restoring an orange '70 340 Dart. It needed all new frame rails, rockers, all the floors, 1/4 panels, etc etc etc. Was a big rust bucket. He got really far along, all the metal work done, but stopped posting.

Fender tag looks to be a repop. C B51 C16 C55? I don't think so. Can't be a G after the B also compare to the C in FC7. B51 is power brakes C's C16 is console C55 is bucket seats

Just reading through this and saw the code on the fender tag for C-16,

According to a post here C-16 is for a center console.
This car originally had a console and it was an automatic converted to 4-speed.
Here's a pic of the floor including the console brackets.
I'm not an expert on Demons but am pretty sure 4-speeds didn't come with a console.

The fender tag looks to be correct in the case of the console option. Also , the interior was originally black but changed to white.

The guy with the big long restoration post? I saw the car up for sale a few years ago.

Around here a top notch shop resto is over $200k so yes you would be underwater at auction unless its some ultra rare car.

I'm looking at one of the engine pics and the gas tank vent line has the securing bolt in the wrong location on the passenger side fender apron and it seems to extend much farther than it should or has anyone seen one like that?

100% that's a lock.

ETA: after looking at the pics in the resto blog, i've revised my previous statement and the new statement is: 110% mortal lock

I'll do a complete restro for a $199,000. Any takers?

Heres what he started with Nat. Also, the full resto .

Not impressed. My FC7 Demon was 20 times worse than that car. I'm doing all the body work myself for $0 (both front frame rails, fender frame brackets, complete drivers rocker, passenger rocker patch, part of the firewall, torsion bars, trans crossmember, cowl, seat/rocker braces, full floor, trunk floor, trunk dropouts, rear quarter bottoms, in front of rear fenders, door, taillight panel, k frame/suspension rebuild, complete nose, etc ).

Correct 340Wedge.

Here's a 71 Demon 340 survivor engine compartment.

Notice where fuel vent line goes.

what an incredibly shitty thing to say.

if yours is so much better let's see it.

Anyone who doesn't think this is a $130,000.00 restoration has no clue of what it costs to restore a car to this level.

Its not a reference restoration and was never mentioned as such, and several liberties were taken during the build process which, in my eyes ,added to the car's appeal not diminishing it in any way.

In a nutshell... this car is worth every penny it got at auction ( with multiple bidders) and I would be proud to be its new owner.

It is absolutely stunning!!

Was someone trying to impress you?

I'm saying if I was buying a restored car, I could give two ***** about how much someone brags that their resto cost. $199k or $299k, who gives a ****. Is the point of a resto now to out spend the next guy on resto costs? I'm resto-ing mine for $0 so am not impressed with yours or George's or Fred's resto costs.

****, it ain't a 68 S/S car! Some, a lot of people got **** for brains. And I know what it takes to restore a car. And me personally I don't start with a car with only the roof left.
