1972 Dodge Colt

-
Hope to drive the Lancer to Carlisle but will have to have it on the road for a month or so prior to work out the bugs.
Gas is not cheap these days but I never seem to mind filling the tank on my old car as apposed to my daily driver.
I do like the 61 Grille better.

The Lancer tank is what, 14 gallons?
Lots of stops on a long trip to stretch your legs!

Finally got the Colt back on the ground.
Back out in the sun to take a couple of pictures.

What a fantastic looking car.
It sure looks like it won't take much to push it through the air.
A job well done for sure.
See you in Tulsa, the first Saturday in November.
Forget Mo-Kan, don't make the mistake we did by towing a long ways for shakedown runs.

It looks awesome !!! Cool !!!

I hope around 2200 with me in it.
Car looks great Stan can't wait to see it run. Great job with the build. Like the flat hood look.
I run Hoosier QTP with no tubes or screws with Holeshot wheels. Works well, no leaks .
Wish mine was 2200lbs, mine is 2513 with me in it.

Well yours is a street car right? So you are carrying a little more stuff than me.
We have had company all week in our B&B so no Colt work till yesterday.
Adjusting Toe, and the front shocks.
I want to see how to get the front end up an inch or so.
Looks like it will take new shocks to get that.

So this weekend I did some work on the front end set-up.
I was going to make some steel links to put in place of the coil overs.
Then I would know the shock length I would need.
This, I thought would get me the height I wanted.
However, this old suspension design is pretty limited.
If you lengthen the coil over, the steering arm hits the lower control arm.
Turns out that you might could use a 1/4 to 3/8 longer shock.
Maybe and that would be close.
So about all I can do is tighten up the coil spring so the front doesn't settle.

Now I will start finding a chassis shop and look to go with a strut front end over the winter.

would putting the upper tabs closer to the frame give you more height? or does that make everything bind and hit sooner?
maybe that is the same reason my friend that had a Colt put struts on his or to modernize it.

Bob, the lower control arm sets the height of the car.
If it moves down any more the steering hits.
Yes moving the upper shock mount down would make the shock be lower.
But the lower won't arm let it go down.
Catch 22.

I am looking at a couple of strut kits and chassis shops.
But later....
