360 Rotating assemblies

I was going to build a 408 stroker then I read dgc333 build and am interested in a 360 build 360-375 HP. I have the block of course and x heads but holy cow where I have looked for rotating assemblies, it is cheaper to get a 408 assembly from Mancini. Does anyone have any websites or companies that can provide a good rotating assembly for my 360 interests (360-375 HP) without the bite in the butt:munky2:. I am heading out but will check the site tomorrow. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
 
It probably doesn't cost much if any more for a stroker kit because I don't believe anybody specializes in 360 kits. When you do a 360 you generally just have the crank turned and buy a new set of Eagle or Scat rods and pistons of your choice nad the remaining parts like rings, bearings, etc. and have it balanced. Do the block work and assemble it.

Why not go ahead and do the stroker? I guarantee if you rode in both you wouldn't even have to think about it. 360's can be made to run real good but a 408 will have the torque of a good running big block so there much more of a blast to drive.
 
SCAT sells two very nice 360 rotating assembly kits:
~ Forged 4340 Std Weight Crankshaft (3.58" Stroke)
~ Forged I-Beam Connecting Rods w/ 7/16 Cap Screws (6.123")
~ Forged Flat or Dished Pistons (10.4 and 9.5:1cr respectivly w/70cc head)

~ Part #1-48021B Flat complete balanced assembly w/ rings & bearings.
~ Part #1-48023B Dished complete balanced assembly w/ rings & bearings.

The Difference between the 408 and the 360 Kits is that with the 408 Kits, the compression ratios will get outta hand really fast.
You'll begin to notice that when the Cyl.Head chamber volumes get below 70cc.
 
I'd build a 408 with the step dish pistons. If on a budget put the x heads on there and maybe port them later or swap to Edelbrocks.
 
I would call some local machine shops... You only need a crank kit and some rods... I don't have any or you could have them.
 

Eagle rotating assemblies seem to be a good deal with some shopping around. You can get them balanced/unbalanced, I-beam/H-beam rods, cast/forged crank, etc. Cheapest are around 1,200.

Given the choice i'd build a stroker,as a matter of fact i have both a 416 and a 360,the 360 goes well but nowhere near the torque of the 416..and e.t. wise the 360runs 11.80's..the 416 11.00's,the 60's are even better for the 416 1.40's versus 1.60's for the 360,pistons are more money though for the stroker $500.00 versus $280.00 for the 360...

BUT

less cubes means you need more rpms to make the same power. so here's a question for yah..
two engines 416ci and the 360ci, both make 600hp, with the 416 making it a 6200rpm and the
360 turns to 7200rpm. both cars are equal cept for gears and torque convertors. who is
gonna be faster down the quarter mile?
i know its a dumb question.. but the point being is that more RPM wins everytime.
 
Sounds like the original poster wants to build a street engine. For the street the stroker is the only way to go due to the increased low end torque which is where a street engine is most of the time.

hence strokers. but.. define "street engine".

what constitutes that?
is it an engine that only buzzes to 5grand?
Idles in traffic?
can go on a 200 mile round trip?
never overheats?
better then 10mpg?
easy on parts?

mabey if there was a general consensus as to what a "street" engine is, perhaps there will be
a better understanding of parts to recomend.

i shift mine at 7g, decent hp below 3000rpm, idles in traffic, can go 200 miles @ 3.99 a gallon lol,
dosn't over heat, just barley gets 10mpg, and has been in 3 different cars over 5 years.. still goin strong.

not trying to start anything.. just curious, thanks.
 
340s Fastback is right. I don't plan on taking it to the track. I want a nice sweet mean low end torque motor for the street only. Thanks.
