This is what a 64-66 Mustang vent looks like before "hacking"

Sorry, hadn't seen the photo. Yeah that makes sense. Instead of deleting the fresh air vent, you removed the duct that runs down and added a way to open it. makes total sense, thank you

I'd wager a bet it wouldn't be hard to fabricate something similar. a pin for a some sheet metal to rotate around and a lever to pivot it, mounted into a bracket under the dash. I'll see what I can do with that. might not get to it right away but now im curious

If you look in this photo you can see the fresh air duct on the left hand side. It's a big ol' unit, hogging some precious firewall real estate. Under the dash on the driver's side is just a whole lot of stuff, trans shifter, parking brake, etc. which prevents me from mounting the 8"*5" fuse block anywhere handy. The only place I can come up with other than where the fresh air vent is now, is in the center of the firewall behind that big air conditioner. But that'll be inconvenient if a fuse blows, so I'm thinking It'll be more handy to remove that fresh air duct, and mount it on the kickpanel area where it is. I can easily run wires up along the firewall for engine bay wires, or down along the floor to the trunk, or up into the wire holders for dash wiring. should help to remove the rat's nest.

I do need to pull that air conditioner anyway so who knows
I took the drivers side duct completly out and sold it here on fabo . Made a block off plate to seal the hole after re cleaning the cowl out , made room for the new fuse box-------------dont miss that dirt blowing in my face a bit !!

You do know that you lost your cool weather refrigerator by removing that vent.
Used to hide beer in the vents back in the good old days. Well, you still have the right vent, and it's larger.

I would HATE not having at least one cowl vent, and dislike "this new stuff" with it integrated into the heater. It never gets "cold" as the outside as the heating ducts pick up engine heat, etc

I’ll definitely be keeping the Passenger vent. No reason to remove it, even with a new integrated A/C unit I’ll be installing. Nice insurance policy if I get new A/C and it ever breaks .

But the driver’s side one is only mostly attached at this point and the door broke off (PO tried to open it when it was seized. Was barely hanging on when i got it).

The dirt blowing was bad. Just the other day the passenger side decided to blow a bunch of dirt and leaves all over my interior and a freshly dry cleaned sport coat

Wait did you put things in it when it was cooler outside and close the door so as to cool it down? If so, that’s genius and I will absolutely be putting drinks in the passenger one.
