66 Dart Owners thread

I’m painting mine the old Porsche Mexico Blau. It’s close to Petty Blue.

Sorry for the blasphemous picture but I’m not done yet.
I’m actually also considering black details just to make I look a little more … speedy?

Do any of you 66 Dart owners happen to know what the headliner bow order is for these 66 Darts? My dumbass didn't label them when I took them out about 15 yrs ago. Thanks!

I bought this car years ago, pulled the tired 273 2 barrel and 904 and the car has been sitting since then. Renovating my house has sapped most of my time and $, but I haven't forgotten about this "retirement project."

Thank you! I will re-post. I'm a computer spaz.
You are good. Thought I would let you know for next time. What engine is going back in? Are you rebuilding the 273? There's a pretty loyal following for the mini mites here on the site. They sure are pretty too! LOL

Ok, gonna try again....I somehow erased my photos.

I bought this car many years ago, pulled the tired 273 2 barrel and 904. The car has been sitting ever since (sadly). Renovating my house has sapped most of my time and extra cash, but I haven't forgotten about this rust free "retirement project."

I'm thinking 408 (if I can swing it) dressed like a 273 hipo motor. The original 273 2 bbl. is long gone. I literally gave it away when I lost my garage and was in the middle of a thousand other things. And yes, they sure are pretty.

Imo the stock 273 4bbl intake will really choke the 408. If you go with a duel plane intake a Carter carb will be higher then a Holley. The base where the 273 air cleaner will be to high with a duel plane intake. Needs a drop base. And no one makes a drop base foe a 10 inch air cleaner. Tough to make a good running 408 look like a 273. IMO

I’ll look tomorrow. I have them marked

I just picked up a 1966 Dart 6 cylinder with 3 on the tree. Runs and shifts great but needs some work on the brakes and the new gas tank installed that came with the car. I have a 273 but I'm not going to install it.

Just picked up this one today, 225/console 904. Love me some Dart GT’s!

Here's a fun 66 at MITP this weekend. Blue painted top and interior. It was cool.

These are from when I got the car a few years ago and there’s been a good amount of work done but it’s mostly on jack stands these days.

225/3 on tree and mostly original!

What work have you been doing to it? Nice vert.
Thank you! I’ll try to remember off the top of my head because I really hit it hard in 2019 but then I ran out of steam and time for about 2 years :poke:

Replaced:
Upper ball joints
Tie rods
Pitman arm
Rear main seal
Voltage regulator
Starter relay
Washer bottle
Valve cover gasket and tubes
Battery and hold down
Battery tray
Master cylinder upgraded
Rebuilt one barrel carb
Fuel pump and filter
Spark plugs
Differential fluid/resealed cover
Brake fluid

Adjusted:
Front wheel bearings
All drums
Steering box
Valve lash
Timing
Carb
Column shifter linkage

Rebuilt/fixed:
Column shifter linkage
Heli coiled alternator bolts
Trans arm bushings
Repainted valve cover, oil pan, timing cover
Routed “crackedback” headlight harness

In progress:
Carpet
Seat relocation
Repainting instruments/resolder board
Exhaust
Weatherstripping
Radiator tank braze cracks

She starts right up and should be reliable if I can get the radiator back together! I’ll try to get pictures up on the restoration forum when I can dig them up. Cheers!
