Would a thicker gasket like this one lift it up enough so you could get the choke on before the carb and just guide the linkage up as you install the carb???

I like this one, it's 5/16" thick and helps insulate the carb from heat, it also has the center divider to keep the plenum divided all the way to the carb ...

Edelbrock Heat Insulator Gasket

Those are the correct intake and carb numbers...

Not sure why they won't fit, I don't have that set-up to refer to on any of my cars...

No...and there is only 1 bolt that holds the choke mechanism...goes in the hole in your second pic. The front of the choke mech is held down by the carb itself....looks correct to me. Should fit, assuming you have the correct choke mechanism...should look similar to this...

That's the first thing I noticed. The OE carb gasket is approx. 5/16 thick.
*I Think* Edelbrock has what you need.

thanks so much. this is the best Forum of all the different type of cars i have had a body guys are always willing to help out
Well, when your favorite cars are number three on the big three list, and seeing how popular we are in the roads, we tend to stick together a bit and of course, most of us are just simply cars guys. We don't mind other makes staying in the road. It just gives us a chance to whip'em on the street or track. ;)
Many of us do like to see "Other makes" on the road & helping out others keep'em running.

It's a "Car Guy Thing!"

cool, what car you have is it blue? or the tan duster?

Tan, black paint where the vinal landau was.

whats with the one screw on the carb? for adjustment what is the standard amount of turns out? mine is at 1-1 1/2 the more you open the richer?
Does your carb have two mixture screws in the usual spot, plus a third one between them and a little higher up?
If yes, that is an idle-air bypass!
IIRC, they were at 3/4 turn, but I haven't seen one of those in nearly 50 years. Just set it to what your engine is happy with, as in no hesitations or stumbles or tip-in issues. It is only sensitive at idle and very small throttle openings.

I had a few of those. Then the aftermarket did there version. "Idle ease" was the he catch name I think.
