I bought this Dart in Bakersfield, CA. It has a 318 with 3 on the tree. Our plans for the car are to do a resto-mod which include new paint, rims and tires, some interior work, changing from column shift to floor shift and possibly a 408 stroker motor.

Looks really solid great start, she got a good running 318? do a few hop ups until you get the 408 together.

Nice looking car, a 318 3 in the tree may not be the most desirable, but it is sure unique.
I would drive it as is!

Thanks guys. My son and I pulled the carpet and checked out the front floor boards. They were gone. We install new floor panels and also installed a 4 speed tranny hump and changed to a floor shift. I would have kept the column, but the linkage was to worn out. I had a lot of trouble shifting.

Hi, my son is currently away in New York. My wife and I decided that the 14's had to go. I bought some rims from Jason @ Motech Performance. Very nice to buy from. 17 x 7s in the front and 17 x 8s in the rear. The tires were ordered from Americas Tire. The rear tires are 245 45 17s and the fronts are 225 45 17s. I also removed the molding from the side of the car. Waiting for my son to get back to start the body work.

It amazing how much rims change the look of a car, looking good.

Nice to see another ‘74 being brought back to life. I had a 318/904 in mine and got a little crazy and started down that long road of rebuilding. Looks like a good place to start.

weird that the front floor boards were toast in CA...I'd check for wiper pivots leaking....something caused them to rust away. Looking good. Glad to see your son out there with the welder.

Looks good! I'd love to put it next to mine when I'm done for a 'before and after' :) Thats almost exactly what I started with, right down to the colors

When we ripped out the old carpet, we found that the seam sealer on the passenger side was cracked. The drivers side had a hole from what looks like a tire iron. Both had been leaking for years.

I just finished installing AutoMeter Phantom gauges into the Dart. They look and work great!. The Ebay gauge cluster puts the speedo right in front of the steering column support. I had to notch the support and then decided to add an additional brace. The only other problems I have are that the brake warning light flickers (now using led indicators) and I couldn't install both oil sending units on the back of the 318 due to lack of room. The last thing I did was I took 2 turns out of the torsion bar adjusters to drop the front a little.

Hi,

Installed some hood scoops that I bought on ebay. The scoops turned out to be of low quality. :banghead:However, the car looks great from 10 feet!LOL

I'm really diggin' those wheels, nice choice. Can you link the ebay ad for that gauge cluster? Looks great in there. What a difference it must be from the driver's seat.
