750 holley to much for 318

My 318 has stock pistons and stock heads.It has the 284 480 comp cam, headers,single plane intake for now my plan is to have thoes parts on my 360 build next year witch I think the 750 will feed it well.But for now geting a used 650 around here is a little tough but lots of 750 out there do you think its a little to much for the 318.I can find a single feed 600 for the 318 but not what I want for the 360 if you know what i mean.Thanks for the advice you all have.:cheers:

Get an afb from and old car they are about 625 and vac secondaries etc. or you can get a new one from Edlebrock too.

It won't be optimal, but it can be done. You'll probably need to go a step stiffer on the secondary springs (assuming a vac secondary, if your plan was a double pumper the answer is NO it won't work).

Don't expect much in the way of throttle response regardless of carb with that cam, intake and stock compression. If you want to feel it "come up on the cam" at 2500+ RPM, you'll definitely get that effect with this combo, but it will be doggy in traffic. In fact I wouldn't expect it to be able to spin the tires if you still have the stock converter and gears.

If you are already building a 360, and just want to be able to drive the 318 over the summer, go for it. No sense in buying 2 new carbs. But if you can score a used 600 for cheap, do that. Several on eBay at any given time.

You can tune the 750 for the 318, but like the cheif said, the throttle response will not be as crisp.

i had one on my 318, it ran but not well, id say anything 600cfm or just under that would be good.
