A904 Tail Shaft Yoke Support Bushing Installation

Guys do I have to remove the tail shaft in order to pound in the bushing? I know it’s got to be straight but wondering if it can be installed while mounted and me on my back under the car?

Also does anyone know the correct size and type of driver I would need?

based on the FSM I'm thinking the tail shaft has to come off

Yeah I believe it does as it’s a tricky assembly to get in straight. The tail-shaft gear is kinda in the way as well.

Just saw this tool (NOT CORRECT FOR 904 APPLICATION) but an enterprising machinist could make one for 904 or 727..

Brewer’s shows a remover/installer for 904’s etc for $59.95. Don’t know if it is any good. I used to sell the Snap-On tool and some guys had good luck with it and some didn’t.

Wonder if the diameter is the between the 727 and the 904.
