Any home remidies for sinus drainage?

-
well when i went through the gas chamber in basic training that cleared up my nose haha guess my way isnt really a help full idea

Just think. If all you guys drained your mucas at one time, how much that would be. Is mucas a byproduct ? Is it worth anything?

It is very sticky and sticks to everything even your throat. I think we should make some sort of glue out of it. Maybe put it on the back of sticky notes...

I have to agree with the Neti Pot.
It seems a little unsettling at first, but man will it clean your sinus out.
You'll be amazed at how much crap will come out of your nose.
They're cheap enough and you can even get for free. Just Google free Neti Pot.

what ever you do, be carefull of what you do and what you use. You don`t want to screw up your sinius`s you won`t like the other proceedure. I know my son didn`t

Hot Apple Cider with honey in it, an old remedy my grandfather uses. I'll tell you what, it will clear your nose out for a while and soothes a sore throat for quite a while too.

I frequently use that remedy since I had a large number of my lymphnodes removed as a child (lymphoma) so I get sick easily when the seasons change, usually a nasty sinus infection that spreads into my ears and lungs. Even antibiotics won't touch it for at least 3 weeks. Those 3 weeks are pure hell. I've tried alot of stuff, and the Apple Cider seems to work the best.

Of course, there's another method... It doesn't get rid of the symptoms, but you won't know they're there or care that you feel sick.. A couple glasses of Jack Daniels :D

I make my own with salt and distilled water. I picked up a large syringe-style injector (large needle with out the sharp end) at the pharmacy and I use it as a neti pot. Provides a bit more flush force than a simple pour spout.

Procedure is pretty simple. Mix saline solution (glass of warm water and couple of tbsp of sea salt). Draw solution into injector. Over the sink, turn head sideways and insert the injector nozzle in nostril closest to ceiling and open your mouth to close the sinus drain at the back of your throat. Fire away. You will get a feel for how much force to use on the injector right away. Do it once or twice a day and you won't believe what comes out.

You will be able to breathe much better and it lessens the severity and duration of any cold. I use sea salt and distilled water to eliminate the municipal chlorine in city water and commercial iodine in table salt.

My son has had sisius problems for years and tried all sorts of remedies and medicines He went to a nose specialist and.He had some sort of sururgy ,I called it root rooter. He was hurtin for certin for over a week or more .

I've known people that have had that procedure, not pleasent. Your face is a honey comb of sinus cavities. They literaly go in and flush out the cavities in severe cases. Sinuses are very seceptable to infection. I would incourage anyone that is having an on going problem with your sinuses to see your doctor.

I suffer from constant sinus issues. Seems nothing helps much. The neti-pot thing... uff... that is the weirdest feeling in the whole world. Effective.. yeah.. to a point.. but I dont think I can do it again.. freaked me out.
I see a few other suggestions that I might try though. Thanks people.

first thing to do is replace the moisture in the air your heating system is taking out.....................

Then heat up some good Apple cider and enjoy a cup and drink it for relief :D
relax and keep your feet warm, it's colder on the floor

moe

No, Moe I am doing good, allot better then I was a few days ago when it seems like everyone had this chit :D
Now I am hooked on a hot cup of apple cider :coffee2:
and I don't have any more here at home tonight to enjoy

I have a tea pot looking thing that I feel with a saline solution and water. You can get the kit at the pharmacy. The pot end goes it one nostril and drains out the other nostril over a sink. I've had sinus headaches and blockage and it helps take care of both. I can get the name of the kit for you if you like.

Thanks to all that have responded. I wonder if the mucas would put down the self sticking tile better than the almost stick glue they have now, LOL.

I went to the Dr. today and got some shots and medicine. I go again for shots tomorrow. Also going to be put on a Nebulizer to help get over this.

I like the look of the SinuCleanse. I am ordering one if I can't find it locally. Walgreens show to carry them on their website but they don't have them in the Oklahoma market for some reason.

+1. I actually prefer the similar SinuCleanse; the bottle's a little nicer quality and better design. I add a small splash of orange Listerine, which helps cut the clogs. It's GumOut for sinuses!

(The human sinuses, like the human knees, are proof against any kind of "intelligent design"

Well after a walk ( Yes I had my hunter orange on ) the wind was blowing over 15 MPH all day and I did not hear a single shot or see any dear :banghead:.
The wind made for a bad gun hunt today, (tomorrow is the last gun hunt in my zone)and my angles and hips are on fire tonight :wack:.
But it was worth it :D I found a quail honey hole area today

Watching Comedy Central and see if I can laugh it away :D

Might be the wrong time of year but nothing cleans out my sinus better than a good wiff of nitro exhaust. Kinda gives me a buzz too

LMAO

I discovered the neti-pot about a year ago. My son is in daycare so I get a lot of colds. These things work GREAT!

Like you I was at the doctor every week for shots medicine office visits. Pretty sure I bought that Benz.
Cayenne Pepper capsules and odorless garlic capsules 1 of each three times a day with a meal. It takes about 3 days to kick in. within a week you'll be better and the doc will be piss'd. I go into the doc for the annual physical. He ask about if i changed doctors on the sinus problem? "funny you should ask doc...let me ask you a question first. Why didn't you tell me about the cayenne and garlic or the nedi-pot?" "I've saved over 70.00 a month on over the counter meds alone not to mention your meds you send me after...and your doctors visits and shots!!!"

He turns away pissed!! quietly says .."well that does work" He's no longer my doctor!!!!

Thanks, I will get some from there.

OkieCollector.... be sure to eat with the cayenne...it'll fire you up. Also vinegar and honey and water. tblspoon of honey or more if you like, tblspoon of vinegar in 8oz of water does an awesome job as an add on. For best results get Okie honey raised by your local honey seller not store brand. Store brand works but not as well.

The moisture is one of the things that sets me off. Doc told me to get a dehumidifer and use it. I always had one when I was manufacturing mattresses to prevent rust and I seldom had this bad of problems but I was younger back then.
