Very kind of you Al, but that’s ok. I haven’t inspected mine. But, I’m close to doing so. Mine more than likely is fine. But, I was hoping to replace it with new while I’m into this project, this far. They easily slip off after you remove the C-clip retainer that holds it in place. I found through research, before you replied. That they have been extinct since 1988. You can’t buy them new, bummer. The oddest part of that. You can buy a 727 bearing new. They both have the same exact retaining groove. But, the 727 bearing is very slightly bigger in diameter. Unless, I find out mine isn’t good as I had hoped. You better hold onto them. You’re a good man, Al

Thanks Justin, If you end up needing one or other hard parts I may have what you need. Had 2 904s didn't want to scrap them .

Thank you, Al. My kickdown will not work. I tried everything a million times differently and I know what I’m doing in reference to that. It wasn’t hooked up when I bought the car. I put 3k miles on it since then. I have the shift points working very nicely. Everything works perfect. But, it just won’t kick down. That’s why I’m into this project. I’m going to tear down the valve body as soon as I get a slightly warmer day. I hope to find a broken kickdown valve spring, stuck valve or governor sticking. But, I fear nothing is going to be stuck. Because there’s absolutely zero tarnish anywhere. Extremely, clean looking. Unless, a piece of debris has stuck a valve. I might come knocking, perhaps interested in a valve body. If that’s something you could help me with.

A&A transmission has them for around 30 dollars....seen other on the net for more.

you are looking for part number 12272 for 1972 and newer...
part number 12272A for 1962 to 1971

I ll be, darned. Thank you, 70aarcuda. I looked there and found the 72 and up bearing. But, nothing for prior to 72. Found it now. Fairly reasonable price too.

Have you guys tried a "real" bearing outfit? I mean someone who handles all types of bearings, industrial, etc. Surely this is not a "one off" Chrysler only bearing.............

I was thinking the same. But, what makes these bearings unique is the clip groove. Might be patented, I don’t know.

I used to work at a large parts store, we sold bearings, were factory dist. for Fafnir ball and Timken, as well as CR and National seals. You'd be surprised at the application using a snap ring. Ever heard of the IBI or ISI? (International Bearing Interchange) "Back then" there were all kinds of numerical interchanges, something which seems lacking, nowadays

Looking for a new 904 output shaft bearing. Anyone ever seen them new anywhere ? 1969
Google "trans-star" and see if they have an outlet in your area. They should have them.
According to my parts catalog, the bearing fits from 1966-03 904's. 2.440" OD.
The 727 has two bearings, one being the same as the 904, and the other larger in diameter (2.833" OD). These bearings for 727's from 1962-01.
Hope this helps.
