Awesome forum - New to ABodies - Need opinions on this car

I would say if you like the car buy it. I like the 67-69 body style myself so I would say 6000 would be a steel and 7500 is prolly fair. Keep in mind he probably has 10000 into it not including the knuckle busters. One ? I didnt hear was if it had fender well headers.

buying the car 1000.00
trans 1000.00
body work 2000.00
rearend 1500
cage 1000
beer 1000
shipping for parts that cant wait 3 days 500
front suspension 1500
brakes 500
gas in the truck to find parts at swap meets 500
etc it adds up quick

Maybe I'm cheap or something, but looking at the photos & from the description, to me, about 5k would be fair. Why? Interior & wiring appears to need a re-do. Whether you do it yourself or have it done, that alone is 1-2k easily. Now depending on your engine/trans combo the suspension may not work for you, that's more money. How badly do you like this car?
If it were me, I'd budget about 15k for a finished car, offer him 5k, that leaves you 10k to finish the project which would get you a real nice cruisin' A-body. ......... Good Luck!

Welcome by the way.

Okay I'm gonna give you my take on this car.

1. I love it, it looks very wicked, cool, pretty, all of that in one package.

2. If you were to build this car yourself starting from scratch with a green car barn find you would have $8500 into it already and probably more especially if you farmed out the body and paint, redo the interior, trim, suspension, wheels, axles, drivetrain, minitubs, and all the other goodies involved like the fuel cell, fuel system, battery relocation.
Obviously the guy saved about $700 in having the crome bumpers redone, but the rest sure adds up quick as previously mentioned.

Looking at this car and knowing the money I have tied into my barracuda, I would have bought a car like this for $8500 in a heartbeat back then.

All the hard work is done, it looks great.

I say buy the car, and put a big block in it providing it is truly set up for one, get the bugs worked out and drive the crap out of it.

You can maybe put an EZ wiring kit in it one weekend and do little stuff while you drive it.

I think it's a good deal considering.

I'm with Hemi cop on this one. No motor? Throw in the economy card and get real. Knowing the economy is what it is you should be able to buy a nice running car for $8500 and i mean nice. My 72 Duster is valued at $18000 and now lets get realistic. Probably would be lucky to get $10000 for it on todays market and might take that. Triple black duster stripped to metal and totally redone. New car at 64000 miles. Work him if ya got the guts.

This is great feedback. Thank you. Should have done the same thing before I bought the Challenger. Haha!

So the general consensus is the car is overpriced and the offer should be somewhere between $5000 - $7500 max. I’ll contact the seller…..you never know.

The other thing I am reading is that there are tons of Darts right now in the same condition as the car I listed with an engine for $8500. (This seller spent $5500 on the paint for this car - kickass looking car).

I’m interested in 1968 – 1972 Darts under $10K. Sorry – no other abodies for now. With (most important)….absolutely no body work or paint work required. ( Just paid a small fortune and 8 months of my life doing this on an Ebody…..NEVER EVER AGAIN.)

I know I am new to A bodies and perhaps I haven’t found all the sites with all these deals? I am on 6 different ones all the time and the closest one I found to the car I listed with an engine was this one on Ebay….but it is too far ( I live on the east coast ).

I also liked this one but the seller wants $23,000 CDN!

If you are selling but it is not listed contact me. Please send me leads if you find a nice one. It’s a nice community you have built here and I would appreciate any help.

Again……no bodywork or paint!! Haha!

Thanks.

I would say 5k tops.Hell I paid $7500.00 for a 1968 GTS 36,000 mile 383 4 speed car 3 years ago when the prices were much higher. It was complete minus engine. It cost me another 7k to get it on the road and I did all the work myself.
With engine, transmission, wiring, etc you will be at another 5-6k easy.If you gonna spend $8500.00 on this I would hold off a while. I have seen alot of good deals in the last few months.
