Went to our little local car show this weekend with the Duster. All was good until I went home and tried putting the Duster in reverse to back it into the garage. I ratcheted into reverse and nothing happened. I went thru the whole range of gears from Park to 1st and could not get it into anything (not even park) it stayed in 1st. I'm pretty sure the cable is messed up in some fashion any experience with this. I jacked her up and was unable to see anything underneath. Took apart the shifter housing and looks like the cable is going in and out without any problems. Any input from members her would appreciated. Thanks in Advance

Only Mopar there at the show of about 40 cars didn't bring home any medals

Love That Duster Man! In my humble opinion, you need to put someone in the driver's seat, while you look/ listen/ feel for the shift shaft arm to click into place. If the cable moves, up top, free, you may have a broken cable. How is the cable routed? Did you look for burnt spots by Exhaust, pinch points? A year ago or so, the cable was 65 bucks, the Sweet Thang is.... the HD CABLES were only a few bucks more. ... I'd replace it, if Bad, with the HD cable, keep it away from heat and wild bends, and maybe even isolate it with High Temp shields ( silly cone sleeves) and some zip ties, 1 hole line straps

Thanks for the reply. I figure that it is the cable but need to get somebody like you said into the driver seat and get a better view of what it is doing underneath.

Same thing happened to me first time out with my car and a B&M. The cable got hot from the exhaust and fanned out. I had to reroute the cable after heating it fixing it with a wire wrap.

Common for the cables to get damaged when routed too close to the exhaust, especially when running headers. Find the melted spot to verify. Then if so, just replace the cable and try to keep it further away from heat.

Nice looking car too.
