I just recently picked up a 5 string sr505 ibenez and LOVE it!!!
My question is,does anyone else have one and do you like it??

i was also looking at some NECK-THROUGH basses,i dont know much about neck-through and thought it was a bad idea so i passed...good choice or bad??

It may have something to do with Rush and Yes being my two favorite bands but I have always loved the sound of a Rickenbacker bass.

I have a Yamaha 5 string that STILL trips me up from time to time (That's from playing 4 stringers for soooo many years) but I know Ibanez makes a good piece for the money. I've never played an Ibanez 5 string, but a good friend owns about 4 Ibanez guitars and swears by them.

As for the neck-through, they're usually found on high-end Basses and are made of some exotic wood. The sustain and tone is usally deeper and more resonate. My Schector 8 string is a neck-through and it plays great!

I know Mike and myself play in different "situations", but I love it too much to stop. Especially when you have surprise back-up singers come on stage with you.... And yes, Amy knows. She took this picture of me and my favorite.

My 4 string. :-D

John,

i LOVE that 8 string!!!! not because of it being a 8 string but the color/wood!!!!!...it looks just like the SMITH bass i want but cant afford to buy..i didnt buy my Ibanez either,my dad gave it too me!!

i would be afraid of the neck-through and warpping, would yo??
