Budget racing the old nuts & bolts

Just slowly played around and got some crap out of the way. Just header bolts and motor mounts and he'll be ready to fly...

LOL I said she's out!!

Holy Cow! You paint a good picture there...........still can't stop laughing.

Here's where it's at: motor needs paint and the trans needs a shift kit. I just inspected the slip yoke and someone put it extremely tight in a vice - WHY??!! I'll have to get a nother one. in typical everything's messed up fashion here when I had a 318 I bought the correct motor mounts for that and then modified the driver side one for the 360 and then not long after that obtain a 360 with the correct motor mounts so I have the correct ones for the 360 but now the ones that I need for the 318 have been modified to fit this 360 so the question is do I modify the 360 ones to fit the 318? No of course not I'll just unmodified the 318 ones. Again this week without any funds I'm just trying to do all the stuff right now that I don't need money for so there's still plenty of stuff like that. I'd like to remodify the seat position. I need to find out exactly where I want to put the ratchet shifter. I have to re modify the way the doors open and the way the windows closed and open. I even have another set of doors if I want to just make them normal roll up but I would still like to save all the weight that I have with the race doors, just make them more user-friendly.

I have a 904 small joint slip yoke if you need it.

Today's progress was with the transmission. Using a hour and a half of time I believe I was able to save $36.34 off my next summit bill. That's how much the B&M mopar adapter kit cost. I was noticing in the picture of the B&M shift leaver it was just shorter than the stock one. Just a shorter throw? So I drilled a hole in the stock leaver at the point where the cable end traveled the same distance as the leaver. And in the picture of the cable retaining bracket that attaches to the transmission, it seems L shaped. So I got a piece of C shaped scrap metal and cut a length off and made it L shaped. Then drilled and bolted the flat (likely chevy) bracket to it. Since this is a Budget thing I'm still glad to report I'm still only $40 into this B&M quick silver shifter and cable (swapmeet). About $110 into trans rebuild kit for this free core transmission. By the time I buy a shift kit and fluid I'm hoping to be well less than $300 into trans stuff. still at $300 into motor as well.

I still have the smaller u joints.
I still have the 7.25 rear, so when I put the 42RH in I had to swap the yoke out and use the conversion joint until I can get the 8.25 in there.

Oh yeah, I don't want to think of the time it would have taken to fab up this backet stuff if the trans was in the car.

If I ever get the car out I'll pull the carpet back and see if it cracked the cement? Love to get a larg chunk of new carpet remnants and put it under the car.

I spent time today working on Creature Comforts. I'm trying to get things very comfortable for my wife. I worked extensively on the driver's seat trying to get it in a perfect position for my wife. I did some work on the door also where I made a latch lever instead of just the little stupid wire I had hanging there for myself. I wanted to make it much more easier. Tomorrow I need to mount the shifter exactly where it feels the most comfortable for my wife. also need to make a better window support bracket. That was to hokey also. Hopefully before the end of the week I'll be working on the trunklid also as I plan to run much more gas through it as it will be much more streetable. I have a feather duster trunk lid that I got from the swap meet last year I'll go ahead and put on and just put the hinges on without Springs. It'll be a lot better than a lift off for sure.
