Scraped carbon off piston tops to discover my 71 360 is 60 over. Not concerned with that as motor ran great with no issues. My concern is carbon that may have gotten between piston and cylinder bore. What can I do so it wont cause any problems. Thanks, Rick

You mean from the scraping? Just put some safety glasses on and blow it out with compressed air.

You're right to worry about that stuff, - if you leave it in there,, the first time the cylinder fires, it blows it all behind the rings, in some cases causing the rings to stick, you gotta get it out,, We vacuum it all very carefully, then, with well oiled cylinders, rotate by hand, and wipe the crud left at the top of the bores, rotate it several times..

Ok thanks. I didnt know if I could use something like WD-40 to soften it up or not.

birng the piston to TDC on each hole. When it's there hit it with WD40. Then lower the piston and it "should" be stuck to the walls here the ring stopped. That's what I do and I've not had any issues afterwords.

Thanks for the help, i did the wd-40 and wiped and also fresh oil and wiped doing it several times i think it will be ok
