The cut out is not actually required, at least not to clear standard Hurst competition plus shifters, see my posts above. Standard auto bases clear just fine. Unless you are doing a concourse restoration I wouldn't cut the base. As for the measurement I can't help you.

I could use some pictures of where the brackets mount to the hump. With measurements if possible. If anybody has them.

    Hey 4spdragtop,

If you have a good auto console it is very easy to convert to 4-speed but, only if you are using a hurst shifter. Using the inland shifter is where problems raise their ugly head. All you need is the 4-speed top plates with a hurst shifter and they will bolt right up. I have done the conversion myself and it looks factory correct. Be careful not to lose or damage the speed nuts that hold the top plates in place! They are a bitch to find new or used!!

Have a 67 FB F-S, 273, 4 speed. The console have that ugly hole to the right of it. I have read that the purpose of it was to easy access to the shifter mechanism. Want to cover it, but can't find any p# of it. Any one knows it, or where I can get? Brewers don't have it.

As far as I know no one re-pops the shifter cover. I think they were a fiber board like the glove box material so fining a sound one will be difficult.
