Seriously man. A car is one of the most expensive items most people buy - that's why most people buy them on loans of some sort. Cars by their nature are not cheap. You want cheap transportation - look at classic bicycles. Although even there, there are exceptions. We were buying lunch as we headed off on a road trip and a local guy comes in with a 9 speed Raliegh. Talk about rare! Sturmey -Archer 3 speed and a derailer. Only made for a few years. Late 40s or maybe 50s. For a while rod brake bikes were a thing around here, epsecially in odd sizes like with 28" rims. Just a couple of examples.
Classic car hobby is not hard to get into nor is it expensive. I mean, they are cars, so they aren't .55 cents... But anyone with any income can basically own a classic car. But if a guy says it has to be a Hemi Superbird that Richard Petty owned, well, that's different
I sold a '64 Rambler Classic, a pretty nice car that ran good, for what.... 3k?? or something like that?? People pay more than that for their garden tractor... lol

My old duster cam specs was factory lift. Duration intake was 346, exhaust duration was 352, lobe centerline was 114. I’m going off my memory that is t as good as it once was. Kim. Or maybe 332 and 346.
We’ve been through all this several times with you in the past. If you don’t have a car by now with all the leads you’ve been given, it’s because you don’t really want a car. There are hundreds of decent cars out there for less than whatever your phantom budget limit is. Part of the hobby is finding something and making it into exactly what you want. If you’re not willing to do that, then the hobby isn’t for you.
You need to read the rules for the class you're wanting to run in.
I got tired of looking for a good used pickup in the 70's....a 4 year old 'perfect' truck at a lot and when I got there, it was a bondo bucket. Grow a pair or get out of the boat.
Pure stock? Don't know what the classes say anymore as it's been years since running in a stock class plus they are not all the same as they were nearly 60 years ago. A buddy used to run SS/O with a 56 Chevy. Had to run a 265 since that was the biggest available in that car back then BUT...he could run ANY transmission so he chose a 5 speed. Hey, they didn't come with 5 speeds back then but the 'fool' book says he could run any trans....just can't use all 5 speeds. Pick the gears that work the car for the best pass. Carb....stock but it could be 'tweaked' for best performance. I could go on and on with every part that was used. The car ran mid 11's (this is 45 years ago now) launching at 9k and shifting around 9k. Pick your poison. I fell in love with bracket racing even though I hated it at first. Having the slowest car at the track beating the fastest was pretty fun...except going slow all the time ain't all that fun. For me, going fast and being consistent is half the fun and the competition is the other half. @Dan the man
