Console top paint

I’m cleaning up the console top and flip up console door top on my 1967 barracuda formula S. Some of the greyish paint is missing, and I’m thinking I will repeat the grey to make it look better.
Can anyone chime in with what would be the correct paint for the console top?

Let's see, 67 has a matte silver with a black stripe.

That looks great. Mine was pitted badly so I bought re-popped parts. Not cheap.

Mine was so bad I sanded it down good, filled the pits with filler, painted it body color and put the fake carbon fiber decal on it.

That's a custom touch! Nicely done! THat's about all you can do to pitted pot metal. Sand, grind, and fill.

I was cutting it out to fit the promatic 2 shifter so I used the worst top plate set I had just incase I messed it up lol. Ended up turning out good.

I don't think I did. I didn't sand down to bare metal. I wet sanded down the factory paint. Taped off the chrome.

Do you recall what grit you wet sanded with?

I don't, but I would say 800-1000? Use blk trim tape for middle stripe. Years later it's still looks good.
