After a miserable 3 hour drive to MITP last weekend I have decided I either need cruise control or a new knee. (Both would be a good idea I think)

Has any of you transplanted factory cruise on your old Mopar or installed an aftermarket unit? I am thinking on my 70 Swinger with a 318 2 barrel but may be later on my 64 Polara. I can ask the guys over at B Bodies about that.

I installed the factory cruise control in my 1970 Dart years ago. If memory serves, it was pirated from an Aspen or Volare, not a very difficult job to install, likely be harder to find a complete working unit with the necessary wiring today.
I don't think it matters much what it comes out of, other than possibly the length of the speedometer cables.

Dakota Digital has an electronic unit that works as a stand alone unit or in conjunction with their electronic dash units.

rockauto has factory length CC speedo cable pairs cheap.

If you find an OEM setup, be sure it has the tiny pivot bracket that goes on the top of the carb lever with a roll pin.

Super easy to forget to remove (and somewhat difficult) part.

Member here did a video. Drawing a blank on his handle.

I did pretty much the same thing as he did if memory serves, but with the addition of a clutch switch since I have a 4 speed.

Get a piece of 1" wood dowel.

Experiment with the length but it needs to be just long enough to push the gas pedal down and maintain the speed you want and tuck it under your thigh. If you lift you leg to apply the brake the dowl falls off the gas pedal and you apply the brake.

I drove a moving van from SoCal to Colorado that way. Used an antique cane but the principle applies

Good Mopar CC servos are hard to come by these days. NOS run from $400.00 up. I was lucky back a few years and got a 1975 A Body complete CC package. The original levers have went way up in price the last couple years also.

The Rostra units are nice, not factory, but nice. Their turn signal levers will not work on a Mopar-they don't have the little bumps to lock into the signal ring . You can adapt a Mopar lever to the Rostra unit.

WOW! I've got a never opened factory cruise kit meant for dearer install in 80s maybe? some era of Dodge vans. I'm thinking less than 200 (i forget) at ebay 20 yrs ago. Had a very simple aftermarket cruise in our 1st fish 1983? Guessing here.
Tiny thing with 3 buttons stuck on the dash. Worked great. Good luck

Nice to see you here. I hope you're well.

Any way to test the servos beyond checking to see if they hold a vacuum? Or is that enough?

I've got several I have collected over the years but no idea on condition. Might be a gold mine. :D

Disappointing to hear that the stocks have gone way up, going to need one for my G3 car at some point.

I had heard the servos are hard to come by in good condition. A friend needs one for his Satellite. There was a member on B or C bodies that was remaking the diaphragms but he doesn't any more. It's too bad someone doesn't repop them.

This cruise control came "highly" recommended. Once used they say your knee won't hurt for several hours.:steering:

I picked these two factory cruise control stailks at a junkyard years ago. The bottom one was the rotary control type found on 69 or so B and C bodies. The top one was the slider control that I pirated from a 73/74 A body

I cut the theeaded part of the handle iff and added the end so it wiuld work with a 65 Coronet turn signal switch. I later found a NOS B body one. If I can find out how the multifunction turn signal handle on ny 80 M body is removed, i may use the NOS one if it’s the same

The controls on the turn lever would be handy as all are but I wouldn't mind a switch on the dash.

I’ve got a couple of servos but with the washer bottle in an early A making space limited, the electronic unit might make more sense

I've forgotten, was it Dana? used to market an add on CC completely aftermarket. The only downside was the CS you had to attach a magnet to your driveshaft and put a pickup down there for it. I could see that as a problem, specially in snow country

I put one on a Tool truck once. It worked quite well.
