There's a handful of people here that absolutely get their panties in a wad at the slightest hint of a different point of view. They take this different point of view as a personal insult.

Bottom line its your thread do what you want! The rest are spectators and peanut gallery. I'm not saying that there's not good input and valid point but at the end of the day you're the one doing the work. Seems you doing a great job, let the games begin.

 pull up a chair, let the OP do his thing, I'm looking forward to the testing.

I like different points of view, it's how you learn and grow, even if you only take away 1% of what someone said it's progress.

Someone who don't and probably never will have access to the world of dyno'n I just appreciate when someone takes time out of their busy schedule to share with us.

Now we need a guy who only tests top fuel hemis to say something similar while beating on his own chest with a couple dildos..
keyyyyrist man..
What are we doing here? if its doing what Newturd is doing..sorry, I don't participate in circle jerks.

We obviously grasp why and the level these heads are on, and their order.. but what fun is it if we can't cross lines and experiment on our own.. maybe stretch some into territory others claim to own.

there aren't many definites in this world besides birth and death.. and even then there are variables. So sit down and learn, be entertained, or reaffirm what you believe to know...but don't fit n ruin it for the rest of us.

The clown is the one inserting ideas that were never said , which is mostly what you do when you're on the losing end of the argument. Im now restricted from this thread by someone who doesn't comprehend what I'm saying, and all for the better. Have at it.. its no wonder I stayed off.

lol. Clown.

Let’s test an unported J head against a W7 just to see the results.

What exactly would YOU learn?

That makes zero sense. Especially when your broke dick *** ain’t paying for it.

This can be a bit comedic i guess.

But damn these hyper-emotional users can really **** up a good thread.

There will be a new clean thread once the dyno testing gets rolling right?!?!

It might depend on how much drama the ones doing the test wanna endure.
Cuz……. It’s fabo…… so it’s gonna have some.

Maybe NCEngineBuilder can ask Mike or one of the other mods to lock/pin the result thread and then make a separate discussion thread. Easy to find the details if that's all you care about, but able to wade into the **** if you care to get into the pen with the other piggies.

Well, let me try to steer this thread back on track. I dont mind anyone having a different opinion, but can we please keep the personal bickering out of this thread? It's a MAJOR undertaking to make this happen, and it's free information to anyone who follows, so please keep that in mind. The shortblock is complete, I will be doing final assembly soon, and initial break in and dyno testing will be with a set of 100% stock speedmasters. No porting, no bowl cleanup, nothing but guide clearance checks. Should be interesting to see the spread between a 400 dollar speedmaster and the "better" heads. So we plan to test stock speedmasters, promaxx shockers, trick flows, and the bloomers. Stay tuned.

Can’t wait for results. Any chance you could buff up (valve job, light blending in the bowls) the speedmasters and run them a second time? Or that asking too much

It's just time and labor, and since this isn't a "paying" gig, I am trying to keep the labor hours in check

I had a good conversation with NC Engine Builder about this and other topics related to the testing. I’m going to address this because he will not. At the moment, he will be spending a couple of days (at least) testing and countless hours preparing for the testing. He does have some assistance buying ‘hard’ parts, but no compensation for the prep labor, the testing labor or tear down. There are also hundreds upon hundreds of dollars in ‘soft’ parts such as gaskets, fluids, fuel, etc. And he is currently responsible for much (not all) of the dyno rental. So, add in the lost wages and the financial impact of this testing is in the thousands of dollars.

To answer the question about additional testing - if we can lessen or eliminate the financial burden, I believe he is open to more testing. I too would like to learn a few things about the actual effects of valve job, larger valves, MCSA and others.

I have been thinking of ways to help offset the costs. Do you guys think people would be interested in purchasing in depth technical data from the testing? Things like flow curves, port velocity curves, coefficient of discharge curves, port energy curves, MCSA dimensions, valve and spring specs, port volumes, chamber volumes and dyno charts for each of the heads tested? General information about the testing would be available for free, but the in depth data would need to be purchased, say for $40. I could post some examples of data in the morning. Think we could get 50-60 people interested, or is that a fantasy? Would also be nice to get some gaskets donated.

I did tell NC Engine Builder that I was going to post this, but this is totally my doing - he did not ask for it.

Feedback please, but I probably won’t answer until morning. It’s my bedtime.

I'm in for whatever anyone comes up with to offset the costs.
I'd even just donate if something was setup.

Opinions are like assholes, so feel free to ignore this one. In addition, I'd be willing to put in $50 to defray the costs in any scenario.

On that note, I'd like to see the data available to everyone. The work to do an "apples to apples" comparison of the different cyl head options is great for the community as a whole and I'd prefer to support the effort and the community together.

Let me know a paypal email address I can send $ to.

I second post 368. Let us know how to do it and we will help with funding.

I don’t think anyone who hasn’t taken an engine to the dyno knows the work and expense that goes with it.

Plus all his time and money tied up building the engine.

That’s why I lose my **** when someone says “we” need to test this against this and that against that.

I always say sign the checks and I’ll test whatever you want.

It’s always easy spending OPM.

I think this is a great explanation for anyone who doesn’t understand what it takes to do and pay for this kind of testing. I definitely get it and value the information, but I’ll say most people will NOT pay for that kind of info afterwards. Eric Weingartner sells his data in folders after the testing he does, I wonder if he’d be forthcoming with how much that offsets his costs. My opinion is ask for donations up front (I would donate) and don’t rely on the sale of info after the fact to supplement the cost, I don’t think the market is there for it. Maybe I’m wrong. Start another thread and do a poll.

I agree 100%. Most guys talk the talk, but when it comes to the nut cutting they won’t pay for just the data on paper.

Speaking of Eric he just tested my 4500 to 4150 adapter in his last video. It was the Unleashed Custom Machining unit. Worked pretty well vs the new style HVH that I also have. Looking forward to trying it on the car in a couple of months.

I just watched that. He said whoever sent it in to contact him so he can send it back.

Correction: the video I watched was the water pump test video. But he explained the adapter test in it as well.
