I would think if your not i a hilly area you will be fine
Something you never forget.“death wobble”
The last van I was issued was think 1980 Chevy? 305 3 on tree not a thing power. nothing not even radio. Think only option thing was the V8. I had the only V8 in the small fleet. It had bad death wobble at 50-55ish mph. Under warranty the Dealer added a shock thing to try and tame it. Still did it. Was told it was common on them vansSomething you never forget.
That's a beautiful truck.I towed a couple cars from down south, to Detroit...using this 318 beast.48K original miles, torqueflite, 3.23 gears. I swear it sounded like it was getting a hernia in the big hills of Kentucky on I-75. I ordered a 99 Ram with a 360, to replace it. I was pulling a 24ft enclosed with a 64 Dodge 330 in it. The Mtns from Carolina to Tennessee had us in low gear, a couple times. Pretty gutless.

But all that was the truck's fault. Ok.didn't have working trailer brakes and low gear on a torqueflite ain't gonna hold back 4000# on 11%. I was young and using a truck that had no business pulling that much weight, very dumb move.
It was a combination. lolBut all that was the truck's fault. Ok.
Think it more of could or shouldinteresting thread!! been comptinplating pulling a 2300 lb race car on a brakeless trailer thats less that 1000 lbs 45 miles of 2 lane back roads in the nc-va foothills up near the blue ridge parkway with my short bed D100 /6 od833 with power nothing!!
Thye long stroke 225 6's are made for towing and hauling. Will the rest of the truck hold up, it's up to you. First thing I would do is add a transmission cooler to it.
I never heard of renting a 426, but have heard of renting Shelbys and other Go- Fast cars. Sometimes when they were returned, the Hi-Po parts were missing. LOLI'm curious, who was renting 426 Hemi's back in the day????
I'm almost 80, been a car nut my whole life. never have I heard of Rent-a-Hemi.
Towing packages today have a towing mode that can be set to remove the over-drive, mine has it on my 2500 Cummins (05'). I can tow a house with it. I would suggest, any serious towing to get a 2500 or 3500 Dodge. You should be fine only going 200 miles with your 1500, once or twice, Just make sure your ride is centered on weight and tong not too heavy.Just don't use overdrive on the trip
