D100 pull my Duster?

I would think if your not i a hilly area you will be fine

I loaded a car on my trailer backwards
At 60 mph it started swaying ......white knuckle all the way home after

I towed a couple cars from down south, to Detroit...using this 318 beast.48K original miles, torqueflite, 3.23 gears. I swear it sounded like it was getting a hernia in the big hills of Kentucky on I-75. I ordered a 99 Ram with a 360, to replace it. I was pulling a 24ft enclosed with a 64 Dodge 330 in it. The Mtns from Carolina to Tennessee had us in low gear, a couple times. Pretty gutless.

Something you never forget.
The last van I was issued was think 1980 Chevy? 305 3 on tree not a thing power. nothing not even radio. Think only option thing was the V8. I had the only V8 in the small fleet. It had bad death wobble at 50-55ish mph. Under warranty the Dealer added a shock thing to try and tame it. Still did it. Was told it was common on them vans

That's a beautiful truck.

We were pulling a Superbird home from the Saline area of Mi. to my parents place in Macomb County. It was a V-code/4-speed car with no engine [trans and stuff in trunk]. I remember getting on I-275 and my friend's 73 Chevy was pulling his flatbed trailer. We almost lost the whole thing, when we got to 50mph. We were swerving on every lane and the shoulders. He finally got it on the right shoulder, and we had to hand unload it, turn it around on the freeway, and using a come-along... winch it many times, rear-end first. The car was solid, only 5-6 years old...and had about 5-6 paintjobs on it. It was a great investment to flip.
Another towing lesson in my youth.

Sharp truck ...is that a dude
Love the color

didn't have working trailer brakes and low gear on a torqueflite ain't gonna hold back 4000# on 11%. I was young and using a truck that had no business pulling that much weight, very dumb move.
But all that was the truck's fault. Ok.

My brother pulled a F150 4x4 from Illinois to Colorado with his '85 (?) chevy astro. But he was the exception to every rule.. lol

interesting thread!! been comptinplating pulling a 2300 lb race car on a brakeless trailer thats less that 1000 lbs 45 miles of 2 lane back roads in the nc-va foothills up near the blue ridge parkway with my short bed D100 /6 od833 with power nothing!!

Think it more of could or should
Yes you can pull it ....is it going to be safe
I've gone a lot of shady towing never got stuck or didn't make it ...
3300 #s isn't much your not going far
Your not doing 5,000 ft climbs im sure you will make it

Just don't use overdrive on the trip
Towing packages today have a towing mode that can be set to remove the over-drive, mine has it on my 2500 Cummins (05'). I can tow a house with it. I would suggest, any serious towing to get a 2500 or 3500 Dodge. You should be fine only going 200 miles with your 1500, once or twice, Just make sure your ride is centered on weight and tong not too heavy.

Nothing 426 but im sure you could have rented something with a 392...back in the day

Flat ground yes. Windy be careful.
Years ago I pulled an 18' Resorter a few miles with my Mazda p/u to my new shop, & definately felt it pushing me around! No sure if more power would've helped.

Thanks for all the info! I'm refocused on making the Duster road worthy. If I can get it to run real good without having to tear it apart too far. I think I'll try to drive it on the 4hr trip. We'll see! Rather not give the Slanty a beat down, and the trailer rental will be problematic.

A friend towed a long bed dodge pickup from Pittsburgh Pa to Erie Pa on a tow dolly using a duster tow vehicle and he made it with no problems it surprised me
