Pretty sure I pissed off a neighbor. I have been training our 2 Redbone pups, they just turned a year old on Sunday. I am working on basic obedience. Using leash pressure and an E-Collar. Not a shock collar, but a collar with 100 settings. The dogs working level, with minimal distractions is 8. I can't feel it. Anyway, said neighbor just stopped by. I was working on putting some tension on the fence by the road. They are from California, guy in his 30's and his retired Dad. He brings up the dog training, mentioned perhaps I could give him some pointers as he is going to get a dog. I ask...what happened to the last dog you had...knowing that it was a very aggressive Cane Corso...and that it was acting very aggressive towards a neighbors dog and that neighbor shot it. Guy tells me that someone must have stolen it.
Anyway...first thing I said to him was best advice I could give you was very simple...a fence. Keep the dog on your property as most folks out this way have guns...and won't hesitate to shoot a dog that is a problem. Hell, guy next to me has at least a dozen dogs buried. He gets a bit loud with me....I told him to just relax..he drove by again about 45 minutes later, stopped and apologized for getting loud with me....
