Daves 1969 Dart Swinger 340 Restoration.

I'll probably take the spring class next year. Its basically a one year program and then they offer spring and summer internships for the second year for the die hard guys. I've got a garage, a mig welder, and a descent compressor so I'll be doing most of the rest of the body work at home. For the most part all of the work I've done on my car has been without the teachers help. Well unless you count his constant reminder of the fact the class is almost over and to work faster as helping lol. I will miss being able to lift the car up 5 feet in the air to work on the botttom side as apposed to laying on my back in the garage:shock: lol.

hope ya got an A....I'd give ya' one for certain!

Mopar to ya'

I got her put back together in the past few days. I did a little sand blasting on the rear frame and cross member and the passenger front floor pan. Afterwards i sprayed them with some etch primer. Ive pretty much just been messing around this week . I'm taking her home on Friday.

It's probably time to drop a 440 Six Pack into that and ler her rip.
Seriously though, nice progress thus far. Going to keep plugging away @ it this Summer?

I wish I would have gone to school for that, and had a someone to show me the correct/best way instead of learn as you go, Great job. It's like a copy of what I just went through on my build but with better tools and better education. Again, great build. Oh and the instructor's car is totally awesome.

340 dart power I like your thinking with the 440-6 in a dart. I might just try that ! lol Yes I do plan on working on it at home this summer. 76orangewagon Thanks yes it definitely makes it easier when you have a basic knowledge foundation of how to repair something correctly and someone pushing you in the right direction. The tools are nice and make it easier.

I kinda took a little summer break but I'm getting back to working on the dart again. Ive been buying up some sheet metal off fabo and flee bay to start replacing pretty much the whole back end of my rusty jewel lol.
I cut out the bad rusty section on the rear drivers side and am in the process of getting the new section cleaned up and ready to install.
I bought a $50 sand blaster from harbor freight and it cleaned up nicely .

Great work on the car, i can't wait to see more!
The fact that you took lots of pics are good too.

wow i had that same car when i was sixteen. sold it to buy a new 1974 duster that i still have today. i'll be resurrecting that in the future. i'll be watching your progress

WOW!! ,thanks for taking the time to show us the work!! i cannot believe some of the stuff you have replaced-- thanks for sharing ,Lawrence

I did some more sand blasting and priming of replacement parts for the 69 all purchaced from Fabo members. A welder buddy of mine came over yesterday and fixed up my rear frame section while i was polluting the environment with my sand blaster :).Free help is nice when u can get it lol. I ordered up a new AMD trunk floor and outer wheel housings from Tamaraz in Plainfield,IL.
I threw in a pick of my welder and sand blaster must haves for restoring rusty mopars !

Thanks for checking out my post guys! It helps keep me motivated to get er done lol. Reading about all the other fabo members restorations has helped me a alot getting going on my project.

Today i moved the holes for the exhaust hanger on my right side frame section. I'm guessing this one came off a newer a body or something. I also started fitting the left frame section on the car. I'm starting to see some progress !

I cut out what was left of the old rear cross member and loosely clamped the new one in to check fit. My intention is to use it to help locate the left frame rail.Looks better already. :D I threw in a photo for inspiration lol.

I figured id post some more pics of what Ive been doing. I lined up and cut the left rear frame section and welded it in. I also started to do a rust repair below the left rear tail light what the bumper bolts up to it. I also started on the right rear spring mount /rear frame section. Ive got it mocked up and screwed into the trunk floor to hold it in place and am pretty much ready to make my final cut for the but weld. i made sure to take a bunch of measurements and write them down before cutting out the old piece this time and marked it on the body of the car so i don't loose them lol. its a trick i learned in my auto body class i took last year.I snuck in a pick of my new amd trunk floor too.
