What rear? 8.75/904 will need a 49.75 cap CL to cap CL if that saves you any measuring. Its not going to save you much though unless you are trying to edge into a lighter class.

Driveshaft lenghs seem to be a mystery to me and many others. There must be a finite number of engine/rear end combos so it would be grat if someone did up a table of all combos wit the driveshaft lengts...jysta thought.

There are hundreds of thousands of different parts used to make driveshafts, so having lengths is going to do nothing for you.

Making a table of each driveshafts lenght would be useless when all you have to do is see your local driveline shop...

some of us are not so lucky to have one..

In A-body alone there are at least 3 different transmissions, 3 rear ends, and 2 or 3 wheel base measurements. A chart to cover all the possible combinations would be a long one. Send me a copy when you get it finished

Redfish, the information is out there in FABO....it just needs to be written down hence my comment in an earlier post that we should have a section of most commom questions like "how to switch my A body to disk brakes". Wouldn't it helpful to you ? I know it would be helpfiul for all the guys dropping 360s, etc in their /6 A bodies.

I have e-mailed another source to see if the information is available. I will post their answer soon..

FSM's have driveshaft lengths in them. There is a chart or two floating around on the net. It's OK, but has some errors, like that rear axle chart.

Now, it's best to measure for exactly what you need if you require a new driveshaft.

If beefing up stuff, a late ford truck van has aluminum shafts in them with 1350 u-joint IIRC. Not a bad source for a core.

I just was e-mailed that a gent is now going through a big pile of technical information to find this information.

I do agree with the above that measuring is the best but it would be nice to have a chart. I should say that I have offered to do the grunt work.

If you seen my driveline parts book you'd cry.

Everyone has a local driveline shop, just some don't advertise and some don't have a driveline type name and may be a big truck shop..

However either way the op needs to see a driveline shop no matter what there is no AL shaft he is gonna just drop in..

Supershafts, I appologize..I was teasing you however, this list is good in several ways.

If you need to cut, it gives you a ball park length . I understand that when you cut, the shaft has to be rebalanced. For those looking for a drive shaft, it will tell them if the new shaft is the correct length.

There is a truck stop I will check out.
