I should have bought a lottery ticket today. I was working on my 66 Dart today. I need the speedo to work. The core looked a bit rough where it keyed into the speedo gear. I went to NAPA for a replacement cable core. "Not in stock but we have a complete cable". $20+ dollars later and it fit like a glove and worked like a champ. Balkamp# 615-1606 tmm

Good deal. That cable has wide application in a bunch of '66-up cars, including a wide range of '66-'67 Mopars, so yeah, it's still a countertop item. The bitchy one to find is for '60-'66 cars.

Is that the square ended wrapped cable with the stake tool? Still sold in the square envelope? wrap the cut zone tight in electrical tape before you saw it. Zip disk on a dremel would be best way to cut it.

I thought I wanted the core like you just described @pishta. I was surprised when they came back to the parts counter with a complete cable assembly. The funniest thing is that they didn't even know what it fit until they looked it up. We looked on the screen through a page of 60's GM aplications and low and behold there was mid 60's Mopar applications. BK+6151606 | NAPA Auto Parts | - Buy Car & Truck Parts Online

True slantsixdan! I've only seen two NOS ones during my 37 years in the hobby!

Then you haven't seen my NOS 60-65 cable still in the original packaging!

Édit: Ulf - now you can say you’ve seen a third! I had to dig it out of storage for the picture

You do great Don! You always seems to get all the hard to find stuff! :)

Oh IDK, I found and bought it because I had 3 early A Bodies and they all took this cable. The Convertible is gone and the Barracuda will be as well. Now I am down to just the wagon and it will use a hybrid cable - stock end going into the transmission and a male adapter for the speed sensor on the other end.

Édit: being NOS i could not use this cable to modify it so i used one of the used cables to modify. I still have a good used cable from the Barracuda though

My wagon’s modified hybrid cable is ready to install. Thank you for the offer!

I will probably offer for sale the used one from the Barracuda and maybe my NOS cable as I do not think I will acquire any more early A’s!
