I've read that people have used Dakota manifolds on an early A with 318 or 360 with some "trimming" involved. Has anyone tried the $149 Dakota shorty headers???? I'll beat the pizz outta a $149 set of headers before I drop a grand on Doug's or TTis.

Do a search they're too wide and will not fit in an a body engine bay. There's a couple options for shorty headers Sanderson being one.

Not sure where you get a grand from..??

The last set off TTIs I bought were on sale,, and shipped cost just over $700..

Dougs Ceramic headers are only $627 from AutoZone, regular price, free shipping , and they have 20% off several times a year.. $517.84 with taxes and shipped..

Their reg non-ceramic Dougs header are $439,, less 20% is around $350..

Nowhere near a $grand..

Hardly makes sense to put on a "shorty" header or manifold,, when for a coupla hundred bucks more, you can have a quality, efficient header, gaining you up to 15% hp, ....

That's some of the cheapest hp you can buy..

I recently received a set of Ceramic Dougs from AutoZone, with discount.

I have a set of spitfires I'm gonna run on my car. I was asking more for other early A owners. I saw the Dakota headers on ebay and wondered if they could be modded to fit. You got a good deal on your headers with the discount, but i have seen either dougs or TTIs for over $800 + shipping.

The Dakotas I looked at looked pretty wide as stated, they come out quite a ways, and the driver side looks like the steering shaft would hit. It was half price day and they were stainless so I could have swooped them for about $35 but I didnt feel they were even worth that for an early A. If you want some full fenderwells (old Cyclones) I got a set.

If no one else is interested I may be interested in your Cyclone headers. (If It is possible to run them through mufflers) 65 Valiant 360 project

Just run the 273 manifolds or cough up the cash for the proper headers. Anything else is a headache. Spitfires aren’t much better then manifolds.

Oops. Just noticed it was an ancient post.
