so three years into my restoration i have chosen to switch out my old dead 318 and put in a 360 i thought i knew most of the things i had to do, such as new torque conerter, paint it up, however i came across a page the other night saying the mounts would not work.... I found myself thinking no way... however i went to line them up today to check and yes, they dont line up surprising me. is there anyone who can give me a way to modify mine or point me in the direction of a site that can help me?

best thing would be if anyone had the proper mounts to put a 360 into a 71 dart...

help me?, Nick

Well, you can or should be able to get stock mounts. A 340 mount is the same as a 360. Shoemaucher has some mounts. Expensive ones but they also have a twist to them and are better than OE or OE replacements.

The left mount is different on the 340/360 I believe, or is it the right?

Drivers bracket is more narrow where it mounts to the block. You can shim the 273-318 bracket to fit or do this...

Old 273-318 on right, cut and hacked into a 340-360 mount to left

Some 340-360 do not have the lower bolt boss at the rear, so you need to move it to the upper like I did.
