So I'm out in the shop this mornin doin the last little things on the Ford motor gettin it ready to drop in. Block plate, flywheel, pilot bushing, clutch and pressure plate. So the pressure plate had a little surface rust on it from sittin around. Got my wire brush on my angle grinder and come inside to wash off my safety glasses. For those who may not know, I have an artificial eye due to a bobcat attack when I was 8, so safety glasses are important. I always wash just one side, the right, since that's the one that works. lol. Anyway, I get them all cleaned good and dried off and stick um on. I still caint see. I washed the wrong side. LMAO

It's hard to tell from your Avatar. They did a really good job on that eye. Even when you turn your head and wink they both look the same. :poke: Keep up the good work "Rusty"

I need cheater glasses and seems like I break frames ofter and a lens pops out. Well I was in the shop working and suddenly my vision went whacko and I instantly felt nauseous and ran for a chair. Sat down and realized it was only a lens had popped out on one side. Found the lens, popped it back in, and was good to go. Funny that such a little thing can fell this cowboy!

Your eyes, ears and nose are all connected in ways most don't know.

Sorry to learn about this, Rusty. My grandfather (my father’s father) had a glass eye due to a welding spark when he worked for the Northern Pacific RR, and as a kid he used to scare the hell outta me and take it out every now and then “just because”.

Regardless, I learned my lesson about eye safety at a very young age.

Yeah I try my best but I sometimes still forget.

Sorry for the loss of your eye, but what a cool story to tell. My brother only needs correction in one eye but wears glasses. One day the lens popped out of the good side. He wore those glasses all day with a missing lens. He couldn't figure out why everyone was laughing?!?!

I've been like this since 1973. My friend Freddie is always pokin fun. In fact, I had to call him yesterday and tell him what happened. I thought he was gonna drop his phone. LOL

True, old man had a 73 Olds 88. The windshield had a curve or a worp in the glass that distorted my vision, I couldn’t drive that car. I’d get such a headache in about 15 minutes. No other vehicle has ever did that to me.

That damn Lumina mini van they made had the crazy curved front window. The first time I drove one I felt like Mr. Magoo

Not to make light of what you've been through, but it takes a helluva man to look past something like that. I'd be cat shy for a lifetime
Or at least keep an eye on them

Never drove a lumina, but I know where you’re coming from. Does anyone out there know anything about two lined chestnut borers, am about to spend 3 k on injection equipment and insecticide any input would be appreciated

I admit, I am sometimes stupid about eye protection, but not nearly as bad as my Dad was. He said one night over supper, tho, that he had been at a shop and someone was cutting some steel for him, and he said he told the guy "I noticed that you are ALWAYS careful to wear safety glasses."

"Well," the man said, "I already lost one eye, so I HAVE to be careful!!"

Didn't teach my father anything, tho!!!. He never did "get the hang" of always wearing them.
