How much did you pay for your A Body

-
I paid $1800 for my 1975 Duster on e-bay in 2001. It was a 1 owner car with 30,000 miles on it,6 cyl. 3 on the tree stick shift and no options at all! Radio delete too. California car with no rust and it cost me $700 to get it to my home. Front seat, dash pad and the rubber floor covering were shot due to the sun baking them but the back seat looked new. I upgraded the whole interior to correct bucket seat interior.

I bought this one in 1996 for $750.00. The car was almost perfect missing two wheel centers and some surface rust in the spare tire well. I had it in storage till 2002. I hurt my back in 2004 and tried to sell it for $1500. No takers so I decidd to fix it once and for alll.
It's a74 Duster wth factory AC and cruise. All matching numbers.

Paid 1000$ back in 2007 for my 73 duster it was my first car original slant 6 drum brakes and all stock stuff now it has a 318 904 8 3/4 and I probably have about 6000$ into it over the years with upgrading and maintenance after the disc brake upgrade at the end of the month it would be 6500$ into it and still would need to finish the interior and start body and paint

Paid $300, was in the back yard of a farm house. It sat there for at least 22 years before I bought it!

70 Dart Custom, orig /6 auto. F8 green ext with Custom package green bench interior. Car ran and drove fine, other than a loud exhaust leak in the manifold. I went to look at it, and they wanted a little over $2000 for it. I put $200 down on it, and came back a week later, and it turned out the guy's wife wanted to drive it one last time, and she crashed it into a pole on their farm, denting the hood, hood trim, bumper, valence, and cracking the grill.
I ended up paying $2000 for it.

Here it was when I first got it home..

Here it was a year ago, after I swapped the entire suspension, and put in a 318, 904, 8 3/4, and BBP front discs.

65 Valiant V200, 273 auto. White with light blue interior. All original body (with the exception of drivers fender), original 273 has had a recent rebuild.
Paid $900. Filled up the tank for the 3 hour drive home, and learned the gas tank leaked if filled up. Then the exhaust blew up and I had flames shooting out the back.. past the leaking gas tank... My friend who was driving behind me called laughing and said 'Hey! You've got flames shooting out the back!'

Pics when I first got it home, still with 13" rims. I changed it over to 14" rims with Valiant dog dishes, from memike's Valiant.

Then I bought the 65 Fargo, 66 Dodge, and 66 Dodge frame with box for $4000. The guy wanted $6500, but I offered $4000. He told me I was crazy and offensive for offering that price, but it was what I had to spend. He went inside, and his wife mentioned earlier she wanted it gone. He came back out 20 minutes later looking quite sad, and said 'Alright.. $4000.. just get it out of here..'

Here is a pic of the day I bought it, with a 70 grill on it, and leaking fuel pump. The 66 Dodge is on the trailer. We picked up the other rolling frame, along with 2 truck boxes FULL of parts for it.

Here it is with the correct grill on it, at a Mopar show last year.

70 Duster I paid $100 for, but paid $400 for a truck load of A body parts, most being the Duster parts in the end. I originally went to look at a set of inner fenders, and the guy mentioned if I didn't take the 70 Duster, he would crush it. At first I wanted to save it, being its a factory TX9 black Duster with red interior.. pretty rare colour combo. But there is WAY too much rust underneath. So I've been parting it.

62 Dart 330, /6 pushbutton auto. My grandparents gave it to me, after it had been sitting in the woods for 20 years. It's too far gone to do anything with.

67 Barracuda notch, 360, 727, 8 3/4 with 3.91 SG, BBP discs up front. All rebuilt suspension. Paid $2500 for it a couple months ago. Needs quarters and front fenders, but otherwise is in great shape. Came with a trunkload of extra parts, as well as a 68 hood with 340 S emblems and an extra mint trunk lid.

Here it is in my driveway the day I got it home. Still looks the same.

The other brands..

55 International, free.

75 Hiboy, free. Dad passed away in December 2010, and passed it on to me. It badly needed the rear main seal and cam 'freeze plug' (behind cam) changed, as it leaked 19 Litres of oil on my drive home. 390 has been rebuilt, with higher compression pistons, cam, etc. Tons of power in this truck, very fun truck. Has an 'Awoooooga' horn too.. haha.

And paid $500 for a 75 Camper Special 390, for parts.

got my 69 gts in on dec 7 1977 for 650 bucks it was primered and the 383 was gone but it had a 340 in it

Bought my Dart Sport back in '95 for $250. Car was complete but ran really rough due to not being licensed or driven since '86. My nephew was living with me for awhile and bought a motorhome for $180 and yanked the 440 and gave it to me for Christmas. 2 yrs ago he purchased a '69 Cuda 340 for $250 also. It was minus engine and tranny.

My dad bought the Dart in 1979 for $400.00, and sold it to me when I was 16 in 1987 for $1.00. He knew I would take care of it!

Well I have had a ton of A Bodies, from free to whatever! My current project I bought last year in Lindale Texas for $2000. Sold the ralleys and the E body buckets and some other stuff that was in it so the starting cost was $1600. Last time I added it up I was over $6000 and only about half done!

800.00 in 1993! Got it under it's own power 15 years later the day after Thanksgiving 2008! Yes a long road, but well worth the wait, dive all the time now! Lot's of work, all new braking system, this and that, street legal and registered, insured! Lot's still to do, but she is getting there!

Bought my Cuda last fall.Rolling chassis from Nevada, pretty much stripped down.Think it was a donor car.Body is excellent, glass is really good, everything else is kinda FUBAR(butchered).Paid $600.00 for it plus $300.00 for re-chromed grille and another $900.00 to get it to Fla.Spent the last 7 months gathering the much needed parts. This is my first Mopar so it's been a very "interesting" learning experience.Taking pics. of everthing I have bought and everything that has been done so far."if you are going to do something,do it right or until you get it right" Wish me luck-lol

My brother found my car (current avatar) in a cow pasture and the guy gave it to him. I bought it from him in 2007 for 400.00. I have much more in it now but I love this car and hoping I never have to sell it. I'm still spending money for up grades.

I gave $3000.00for my Dart after selling my BelvedereII at the Mopar Nats.

I had a 1982 Chevette I had been trying to sell for over two years with no takers. A guy offered to trade his rusty, buried up to the axles with rusted out torsion mounts, 1972 slant six Swinger for my rust free Vet that needed absolutely no work. My Old Cars Price Guide showed the ratted out Swinger was worth more than the Chevette that was in between # 3 & 4 condition. That was last Oct. (2010) and I still don't have it in drivable condition yet. (July 2011). (But SOON!)

I am on my 6th motor and went from running 13.50 at 103 to 11.25 at 121 I love my duster!
