THEN

74 Dart Sport $1000
In april 2010 I stumbled across my 74 (2nd 74 sport I've had) in a San Antionio craigslist add. Called the owners, who had it passed down from their mom who drove it off the showroom floor. I drive her 2-3 times a week. The 225 starts like a FI car. Also, they put some gold duster buckets and reapolsterd them as well as the back seat. This is going to be built for 340 bracket car.

OK, heres the story behind Nella's Cuda "Sunfish". It had been sitting next to the original owners house since 1992, freshly painted, rebuilt motor and new front seat covers and top. I watched it for a couple years and stopped several times to inquire about it but could never catch anybody at home. One day I finally caught up with the owner and asked if it was for sale. He told me he had been offered $5K for it several times but turned down all offers. I told him what I would like to do with the car, and offered him $2500.00 for it and that it was a cash offer. I didn't even get home and there was a message on my machine (before cell phones) fromhim saying that he and his wife talked it over and they were sure that it was going to a good home and that I could buy it. I took Nella and Mrs. cosgig over to have a look and meet the owners and the gentleman had it out in the driveway running, he had just spent $$$ tuning it up so I could hear it run. The brakes were locked up, but when I went back with my trailer, we pulled it up with a chain and the brakes freed up on the ramps. Of course over the years we have upgraded many things, but I have been true to my plan...this is Nella's car and she makes all the decisions on what to do, where to go with it and when to drive it. We have been by the original owners house with it many times and they always like to see it, come out and take pictures and sit in it and relive their time with the car. They know they did the right thing for the car and it's in good hands!!! Thats the story of "Sunfish"!! Geof
Thank you for the goose bumps this morning :happy7:

wow Mike there are some nice guys to just give u a car

$1000 for my running slant six 75 Duster that also came with a wrecked 72 Demon parts car.

My Mom and Lyle, her boyfriend at the time (and my very good friend) picked up the Dart back in 1991. Don't know what thay payed for it back then. It was given to me back in 1998 after they had a falling out. All I had to do was put it back together. Lyle was going to help me. Almost had it fixed up when he was killed in a bike accedent.

Too much! I got taken for what I got, so I'm cutting it up and building it my way. I was young and stupid and fell for obnoxious green paint and Cragar SS's...

Two stories here:
My 1st '69 Dart I paid $2500 for in November 1969. 1969 340 Swinger that the owner had to sell because he just enlisted in the Navy and his parents wouldn't keep the payments up for him. It was just a couple of months old and he'd already added new Cragar S/S wheels and a wood steering wheel.
I had a ton of fun with that car cruising Whittier Blvd. and racing at OCIR.
Sold the car during a personal financial crisis about 20 years ago - missed it ever since.
Current '69 Dart I paid $4500 for about 4 years ago. Bought it as a 90% complete project that the PO got tired of. Came with a fresh Maaco paint job (hate the color) that's getting replaced soon, brand new 380-horse 360 crate motor, freshly rebuilt 727, B-body 8-3/4 with a 489 pig, new 3" full exhaust system (sitting in the back seat), newly recovered front bench (since sold and on its way to New Zealand), new B&M shifter and new Auto Meter guages still in their boxes, and all of the parts to put it together. With the new crate motor and all the parts that came with it, I figured I got the car for free after paying for the parts.
Still have to finish taking it apart for the repaint after I get the $$$ saved (again - 3rd time) for the repaint. I've been collecting new parts for the past 3 years (including one of the last Rocky Mountain Dash panels to be made) so, hopefully, it will be back on the street soon.

I bought my car from a friend in 1981. I paid $800.00 for it. It was, what I thought at the time, an awful copper color with a white vinyl top and a white interior. I just want to say that although I like the Lemon Twist/black combo it currently has I probably wouldn't have changed it if I were to do the car over today. I originally ran the car with the 323 gears, LD 340 intake, and Carter AVS, it turned 14.0 at Keystone Raceway Park in 1985. I swaped to 391 gears and dropped the times to 13.50. I rebuilt the engine and ran nitrous and dropped the times to 12.50. I removed the nitrous and added the supercharger and other engine mods in 1988. My times were still 12:50 but at least I didn't have to refill the bottle and the power was there all of the time. I have since added the Comp roller cam and it now runs the quater at 11:57. I would pass out if I were ever to add up all of the money I spent over the years but I would never want to be without my Dart.

$4500 for 1 owner 70 Swinger 340 in early 2003 - As we all know, you are never "done" with your car and needless to say I have much more in it now.

My 72 Duster that I'm making into a Demon. Didn't see light of day for 11 years until I bought it. came with a truckload full of extra parts, no engine, trans, but the body is immaculate- it's mini tubbed/ narrowed rear with big bolt axles. Factory white bucket seat car (still has nice orig buckets), nice white interior came with it, converted a 150 mph rallye dash that came with it too. Going to be a 440 auto FE5 white interior when done.
Bought in April of 2009

Sorry no pics

Thats not bad at all

Mine was free. It was a basketcase. But the price was right just come get it.. I'll try to find some picts from that day..

Paid $9000 Australian for my Scamp, fresh paint, fresh interior, great condition all over. This is probably a bit more than they're worth in the States, but I'd be surprised if there's more than a couple of dozen in the country. The cost to ship one over, including taxes and customs charges etc is about $4000, so it's basically a $5k car to you guys.
