As most of you know by now I’m not much of a believer in dyno horsepower and have never used one. But my sons stock crank 360 was an engine that always impressed me for the parts used. We are limited to 1/8 mile times in our class at all the tracks we run at but his car has already turned nice 1/4 mile times, probably because of the 4.10 gears

engine combo

.030 flat top pistons in the hole as the deck was never squared or cut
Stock 360 crank.
Open chamber (340 style) ported Edelbrock heads.
Ported Victor340
.620 roller cam
750 alcohol carb
No vacuum, no special ring pak

chassis and drivetrain.
3200 pounds at the line
727 with 5600 stall converter.
4.10 (8 3/4 rearend)
Caltracks

car has gone 6.54 four or five times at two different tracks

any horsepower guesses because I sure as heck don’t know.

My wife car weighs 3120 with her and her engine dyno at 535 HP. She's been high 6.70s on really good air days but typically is around high 6.80s. I'm guessing your motor is probably in the 550-570HP range.

When mine was decently dialed in for the 1/8th it ran 7.40's and trapped at 6200. That was 476hp @ 5,800 // 514tq, however for racing my convertor was 1,000rpm lower than it should have been so i'd say there was some left in it.

What calculator did you use?

A real engine dyno and a real dragstrip.
Calculations I’ve tried don’t work for me as I’m doing 11.44@114 in the 1/4 but I have a barn door to push through the air and the numbers given are bogus. I’ll never do any dyno (real or pretend) just real drag strips!

mine ran 11.70's at 114 with the old engine with everything dialed in. I made 467hp / 514tq

Just curious how much compression that has and what rpm he’s shifting at. No doubt there’s some serious mid range torque and big average hp numbers past 5000 rpm going on here with the “methanol magic”. Is that the advertised stall speed or is that what the converter is actually flashing at?

Shifting at 6700-6800rpm and I will never mention advertised stall. He semi babies this car because the rearend has zero upgrades other than the usual spool and axles. If he gets the car out in 2022 it will have a new powerglide and hopefully a converter in the same area or a touch higher.
